After wading through all the BS in another thread we need an adult discusion.
We need to raise the age to draw SS benefits:
1. When enacted the average lifespan of an adult was under 62 years of age. The earliest you could raw benefits was 62. Why? Social security WAS NEVER to be for retirement. Social security was set up as insurance IN CASE you outlived the average lifespan. The frst beneficiary check WAS LESS than $1 a month!
2. When enacted social security had over 30 people paying into the system for every beneficiary. In 2004 it was 3 to 1. Within 5 years it will be 2 to 1. How will it work when there are MORE people drawing benefits than paying into the system?

Anyone that believes the current system is sustainable is a damn fool and ignorant.

No surprise. People live longer these days. Stands to reason - at least for anyone with an IQ over room temperature - that we will need to extend our working lives.

Most EU countries are doing the same.
