"Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear — kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor — with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it."
-- Douglas MacArthur

You mean with lies like, "the economy is horrible" or "unemployement is sky high"?

those and others like 'they hate our freedoms'

Our economic freedom is a threat to their control of their population. When their population sees what is possible under free systems, it makes them want it, and the despotic leaders and their terrorist wannabe dictator thugs hate our freedom for that reason. Despotic control of their domestic population becomes more difficult as the success of free societies becomes more and more apparent.

that doesn't explain why the common middle eastern grabs at fundamentalism and tries to kill us. If THEY hate us for our freedoms then our free systems is obviously something they don't want.

and the individual who is a capitalist doesn't have colored thoughts?

regardless of the individuals background it doesn't make the statement any less real or truthful.
