When I hit my Google Chrome icon, suddenly AVG search comes on. I tried to uninstall the program & restart my computer but it is still there. How do I get rid of it?

I'll save that, thank you. I finally removed AVG search with the wrench.

The trick with loading some of these applications is to chose the advanced option as opposed to the "recommended" option. That way you can un-select all of their "optional" add ons.
I stopped using AVG a long time ago when they started to be as resource hoggish and invasive as Norton.
