I see a lot of flag waving and hear a lot of oh say can you see from the right. I hear a lot about how contemporary Democrats are socialists, the conflation of course being that they are in fact communists, hence the sworn enemy of "our way of life." There's a general aire of the right claiming patriotism and love of freedom for their own; Eg, Hannity's "You're a great American," et al. Most of you claim the founders for your own.

So I pose a number of questions in varying degrees of intensity. Can any of the following people be "Great Americans?" Can some or any of them be patriotic, and love America and freedom just as much as you?

1. Any liberal Democrat?

2. Any Obama supporter?

3. A proponent of single-payer healthcare?

4. A gay, pro-choice, card-carrying ACLU contributor who supports raising top tax rate to 70%?

Ok... Ready... Go.

No to all, though why you threw in Gay I have no idea. I have no problem with gay people and yes even an abnormal person like a gay person can be a great American.
