Not to be blunt, but... what the fuck is it?

Consciousness actively changing reality? One object existing in two places at the same time? What is all this?

Thoroughly confused... and would appreciate some help.

It's kinda fascinating what physicists get paid to conjure up --- isn't it? You forgot "spooky interactions thru a distance" and dead/alive cats in a box..

You know the E = MC(2) thingy? Quantum physics deals with the "empty" spaces between the smallest elements of matter. Where eventually -- everything relates to the energy side of the equation.. We KNOW what matter looks like and how it "exists" -- QPhysics struggles with conceptualizing the energy part..

I'm sure there are GREAT books on the philosophical side of quantum physics..

Cenotaph, there's a really good animated explanation of quantum physics on YouTube that's maybe 5 or 10 minutes long.

I'm on my Android right now so it's difficult for me to post it.

EDIT: Here it is:

It is not conjured up. This stuff is tested. When you put two slits in a box and send light through, it makes one pattern, when you watch it, it makes another. As such when you are not watching the light passes through both slits and interacts with itself creating an interference pattern. When you try and determine which slit it passes through, it only passes through one and no longer interferes with itself.

Also Schroedinger's cat is not to be taken completely literally. It is a thought experiment. Its purpose is to show that you can't know, until you look, as such you can only know probabilities, which is what QM is based on. Its based on the Heisenburg uncertainty principle that states that you can't know both the position and momentum of a particle, as finding one would change the other.

Linear algebra, interpreted literally. The question of how to take perfectly functional (in terms of predictive power) mathematical equations at face value and then make sense of them intuitively is one of the great philosophical diversions of the last 100+ years.

But no, it doesn't mean you can control shit with your mind.

I can sum it up in one sentence.

God playing dice with the universe.

Sounds a but trite, but that is what it comes down to. How can a photon know if there is someone watching it? How does it decide to go through two slits at the same time and interfere with itself if no one is watching, and then choose to go through a single slit when someone is? How can quantum entanglement work faster than light, unless we need to use it to pass information?

controlling shit with your mind is what politics is all about.

Schrodinger tried to show how absurd the Copenhagen Interpretation is by talking about the cat, turns out he proved how limited we are.

Look up delayed choice and the quantum eraser before you say you can't control things with your mind. We can make decisions after the event and change the results of the experiment. Maybe the problem is the language you are using, not the question.

Neutrons May Travel to Mirror Dimensions
June 18, 2012 - A magnetic field of particular strength and orientation could cause neutrons to be lost from a system into a parallel world of mirror particles.
Italian physicists have hypothesized the existence of parallel matter to explain an experimental anomaly that cannot be interpreted using standard physics. Their findings could shed light on the nature of dark matter, which is believed to make up more than 80 percent of our universe’s mass even though it is completely invisible. Zurab Berezhiani and Fabrizio Nesti at the University of l’Aquila reanalyzed data from French research involving ultra-cold neutron (UCN) trapping, which showed that the particles were being lost from the system they were stored in.

They hypothesized that the neutrons could be rapidly oscillating between parallel worlds, transitioning into their invisible mirror twins and back in a matter of seconds. Based on this assumption, they found the results point to the presence of a magnetic field in our planet’s surroundings that allows the particles to flip between dimensions. “This anomaly can be interpreted as oscillation of neutrons to mirror neutrons with a timescale of few seconds, in the presence of a mirror magnetic field order 0.1 Gauss at the Earth,” the scientists noted. If these mirror particles are actually dark matter, then when our solar system passes through a mirror molecular cloud, a mirror magnetic field would develop.

Alternatively, the Earth could even capture mirror matter, generating a magnetic field, if the interactions are strong enough between normal matter and dark matter. “This result, if confirmed by future experiments, will have [the] deepest consequences for fundamental particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology,” the researchers wrote in their study. The research was published in European Physical Journal C this month and can be accessed here.
