I have very mixed feelings about the Emir of Qatar and his fellow Oil Sheikhs.
Arabs are a only minority of the inhabitants of all the smaller Gulf states like Qatar, UAE and Bahrain.
Most of those who actually live there and do all the hard work getting the dirty oil out and building the ghastly skyscrapers and looking after the Arabs' kids are all dirt poor people from India and its neighbours and the Phillipines, who are treated like slaves under a system called Kafeel.
That's where the Slave Sheikh's money should go to, treating their workers properly.
Qatar has just built what it considers a model village for its majority of foreign workers. Only 6 sharing one room!
Same in Kuwait and Saudi.
Instead the Qatari AL Thanis lavish money corrupting English and European soccer making tickets dearer for us and on hoss flying (horse racing).
Buying up African Land in Tanzania and Kenya expelling its inhabitants for hunting with falcon birds...and all kinds of shit like that.
On the other hand he started Al Jazeera (with help from our BBC journos) which is a great improvement on previous Arab Media.
He has a big political ego. Thinks he is a big world player.
But, folx, have we noticed that the Israel / Pal conflict is no longer the main game in town in the region now???
The main game now is the new Sunni vs Shia Cold war or possibly
who is the biggest dick in the Gulf, Iran or Saudi................. dressed up as a sectarian war !
Syria, Lebanon...EVEN iSRAEL....just pawns in this NEW orrible game.
So the Emir is really truly in Gaza just to recruit and bribe Hamas to leave the Iran gang and join the Sunnis which is what they are, after all.
Now the west including the USA is on the same side in Syria as Al Qa'ida !!!!
All partly because Iraq is now Shia and pro Iran thanx to Bush whereas Saddam was the west's agent against Iran until he went ape in Kuwait.
Saudi and co aint bothered about Israel any more...its just a sideshow now to most Arabs.......
They would love it if Israel bombed Iran as long as it didn't escalate too far...or so the wikileaks cables said.
Will this cut Israel down to size???
Doubt it..they have to be the prima donnas but they just aint that important in the wider scheme of things
unless israel throws more lethal toys out of its deadly prams to regain the limelight which is far too likely, I fear.............
