Just when you thought the rancor between the NFL and players had peaked, along comes Adrian Peterson.

In a wide-ranging interview with Yahoo! Sports, the star Minnesota Vikings running back compared the league's labor situation to slavery.

"It's modern-day slavery, you know?" Peterson said. "People kind of laugh at that, but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money ... the owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money."

Nonsense.

Someone needs to tell this clown that us "regular people" many of whom can't afford to take their family to an NFL game would sign up for that kind of slavery in a heartbeat.

Dude makes like $10 mil a year.
Yeah, I don't know how many slaves were compensated at all, much less in the millions. Or had full medical, game checks on top of their salary, bonuses, etc.

Open mouth insert foot...

The NFLPA let out a collective groan when they heard that one

BREAKING NEWS:

As per the new 2011 CBA, the following rule change:

Initiating Contact/Targeting an Opponent

ARTICLE 3. a. No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.

PENALTY (a-b)—Personal foul. 15 lashings will be administered by the back judge.

Btw, on Tuesday a real rule change is going to get voted on. They're proposing kickoffs move up to the 35, and touchbacks would go to the 25. Sounds kind of lame to me, but whatever.
