"Times Square Ad Raises Plight of 'Comfort Women'

An ad appeared in New York's Times Square on Wednesday urging Japan to apologize for forcing Asian women to serve as sex slaves for its troops during World War II."

In a way, I find it offensive that Kim Jang-hoon and Prof. Seo Kyoung-duk would presume to base this stunt on the assumption that most Americans don't know any better, but the sad reality is that they are probably pretty safe in that assumption.

Japan has, of course, apologized many, many times for their aggression during WWII and for the truly inexcusable treatment of women in Korea and elsewhere specifically.

Surely Messrs Kim and Seo are aware of these many apologies, so why spend all that money on the ad in Times Square? I suspect it may have more to do with Takeshima than with the issue of 'comfort women.'
