Promoting without a Raise – A Recipe of Retention or Departure!

A recent survey by OfficeTeam suggested that out of total 55% of your employees would happily accept a promotion without a pay-raise. Well truly speaking, I was expecting something more than that – maybe a 70 or 80. Almost every organization share the same kind of workplace psychology, doesn’t matter if it is Google Inc. or a small slum-type call center in Mumbai. People always have an urge of moving up…up…up and ultimately – Away!

What are your suggestions – how can the HR department use payless promotions as a tool for retention and not as a vacancy generator?
