Progressives, God bless their hearts...

People in Cuba eat out of the garbage to survive. Castro put homosexuals in mental hospitals to "cure" them. Christians are murdered in concentration camps. None of this is widely known because the U.S. media doesn't report it.

"Cuba's largest and most extensive medical aid effort is with Venezuela.

"The program grew out of the emergency assistance provided by Cuban doctors in the wake of the December 1999 mudslides in Vargas state, which killed 20,000 people.

"Under this bilateral effort, also known as the 'oil for doctors' program, Cuba provides Venezuela with 31,000 Cuban doctors and dentists and provides training for 40,000 Venezuelan medical personnel.[16]

"In exchange, Venezuela provides Cuba with 100,000 barrels of oil per day. Based on February 2010 prices, the oil is worth $7.5 million per day, or nearly $3 billion per year.[17"

"The White House is threatening to hit Nicaragua with sanctions after announcing new restrictions against Venezuela and Cuba Thursday, calling the three nations a 'troika of tyranny.'

"Speaking in Miami Thursday, National Security Advisor John Bolton said the United States 'will no longer appease dictators and despots near our shores in this hemisphere.'

"Bolton likened the leaders of their nations -- Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, Raul Castro of Cuba, and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua -- to the bumbling comedy team The Three Stooges.

"'These tyrants fancy themselves strongmen, revolutionaries, icons, and luminaries. In reality, they are clownish pitiful figures more akin to Larry, Curly, and Moe,' Bolton said

"The new sanctions against Venezuela target the country's gold market, banning U.S. citizens and companies from doing any gold-related business with Venezuela."

All the strong-willed and able people left Cuba from the late 50s-90s. ( Or were killed/imprisoned)

"Fulgencio Batista
In 1934 Fulgencio Batista took over the Cuban government in what became known as 'The Revolt of the Sergeants.'

"For the next twenty-five years he ruled Cuba with an iron fist, and the full blessing and endorsement of the United States government, who feared a social and economic revolution and saw him as a stabilizing force with respect for American interests."

Has anyone told Bolton that the 1980's are over?
I think Bolton's misplaced aggression dates to the '60s when he avoided Vietnam? Since that time, he's never wavered from encouraging others to kill and die for the US Empire.

John Bolton's take-no-prisoners style may prove problematic in the White House

"A Baltimore native and son of a city firefighter, Bolton was a student organizer for Republican conservative Barry Goldwater's presidential campaign in 1964, a race that ended in overwhelming defeat.

"Bolton later worked for Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.), an archconservative who opposed civil rights laws, and in the administrations of Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

"The Yale-trained lawyer earned points in the GOP by helping fight the recount battle in Florida after the razor-thin presidential election in 2000.

"The Supreme Court ultimately gave the state, and thus the election, to George W. Bush over Democratic nominee Al Gore.

"He has been a consistent flame-thrower, critics and supporters agree.

"When he left a position at the U.S. Agency for International Development in the late 1980s, colleagues presented him with a special gift: a bronzed hand grenade."

"Hard to say.

"The Cuban anti-Bastista revolution was mainly financed with middle class money of Cubans.

"They were the ones in the lead.

"Frank Pais, heroic leader of Santiago betrayed by Raul’s later wife to Batista, even got shipments of arms from Cubans in the US.

"Some reports say that the Bacardi family supported the anti-Batista revolution.

"The father of Vilma Espin was their lawyer and she was a member of Frank Pais group before she joined Castro.

"Fidel Castro’s coup that ended the dreams of the anti-Bastista revolutionaries (restoring the 1940 democratic constitution) was funded by the Soviet Union with arms and cash.

"The Soviets paid to repress the 'Escambray revolt' of those that fought Batista and disagreed with Fidel’s coup."
