Profiling vs The Broken Window Theory

If you compare the crime models you would have to wonder why The Broken Window Theory isn't used much more widely. Statistics show that routine traffic stops yield far greater drug arrest than profiling does. I guess you could say that cops catch more drug dealers on accident then they do on purpose. The Broken Window Theory is a far better crime fighting tool. It is mostly used when turning really bad neighborhoods into really good ones. The theory works like this. The thought is that if a window is broken and it is left, people get used to it. So much to the point that it doesn't bother anyone anymore. Then another gets broken with the same effect. The theory says if a window gets broken, fix it. If there is graffiti on a wall get it off. You employ a zero tolerance on all crime no matter how small and no matter who is doing it. everyone gets whatever the punishment for the crime. Even Tickets for J walking. this model works 100% of the time. It was used when Mayor Jane Byrne moved into what was one of the worst neighborhoods in the country for 3 weeks it was the safest. That was Cabrini Green. Today it isn't even Cabrini Green anymore. The projects are gone and the prime real estate it was on is now prime again. Thanks to The Broken Window Theory. Seen any changes like that from profiling?
