Hi,
I am a psychologist acquiring anecdotes for a book on dreams and would be interested in knowing whether anyone has ever had a dream that helped solve a career-related problem or general problem? What was the dream like? How were you affected?
Thanks!

Interesting question, it seems sometimes diet and especially late night snacks affect dreaming. I had a brilliant but crazy aunt who told me B vitamins gave her bad dreams. Recently I have wondered what purpose dreams perform? I've been reading Dennett and others as I am fascinated by consciousness and language as I watch our grandchildren grow especially. I cannot say that I can remember a specific dream well enough, but when big decisions or complex matters are in family or workplace it seems sometimes dreams push the mood in some sense, waking full of apprehension is an odd experience. But after we are awake it seems all calms down? Having managed complex projects there were times I woke with a zillion thoughts only to return to my basic calm self.

Weird coincidence last evening we talked about dreams and early today I actually remembered a good bit of one. Often they relate to real life in strange ways that seem almost as if the mind alone creates the scene. Hopefully someone will give you some excellent input, but I want to explore a bit what function they serve.
