Private Property restrictions

A county in Washington is trying to take away the rights of its citizens to build on 90% of their private properties.

I read this story and something clicked. Here we have environmentalist wackos trying to take away property rights of people. Ive seen the ACLU fighting agianst private property rights in the name of "Free speech" or in the name of "Separation of Church and state" Whatever their reasons and it occured to me. if they succeed in taking these private property rights away, how far will we be from communism?

Im going to give them the benefit fo the doubt, but I wonder if they realize how destroying property rights will destroy our freedom. I fear however, many arent ignorant of what they are doing.

Maybe its my imagination but i am seeing alot of communism in the Democrat party lately. the Environmentalist and ACLU attacks on private property rights are just one thing.

Political Correctness to curb political speech.

Michael Moore's popularity in communist China.

The defense of Castro by the left.

The "Antiwar" movement having no problem if we do nothing and let millions die like in Southeast Asia, but if we try to defend ourselves and liberate others with minimum casualities are we are evil.

The Soviets may have fallen, but have we killed the viper and not noticed the venomous bite slowly destroying our society?

I have hope for the future. But i am still alittle wary. Is it just me?

Anyone know where i can get a list of the soviets plan to destroy the US? Glenn Beck had a copy of a list of the Soviet plan in his book and it would be good to discuss.
 
Saw this on TV too. The loony left seem to be bent on starting a class war to achieve thier purposes. The have-nots probably don't think anybody should manage thier own land if they don't they don't have any. I would be PISSED if someone told me what I had to do with my property.
 
Believe it or not, Western Washington is about 50%-50% split between Left and Right - except for Seattle, which is about 80% Democrat. So while I am not surprised, I am very disappointed.
 
Funny thing about liberals is they are the first to complain when someone wants to put air powered windmills in their backyard
 
Private Porperty is a person's own domain. IT is what seperates us from socialists or communists. Our right to own property is written into the constitution.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

We are allowed to be "secure" in our own property. No laws shall be made to take away these constitutional rights.

I am looking for constitutional references on this, but do not think the 4th applies here.

Limiting what one does on thier land does not equate to unreasonable searches or seizures of property. Maybe you could make the stretch with seizures, but man that would be a hard one to bridge the gap on. What do you think?

I feel that any law that tells me i don't own my property, the government does, thats a seizure. When i can't plant a tree or remove a tree from my own yard because they in effect tell me that i don't own the land i paid for, thats a seizure in my mind.

eh - I follow. Hmmm still a tough sell I would think. I agree with the premise however.

Althouhg your 4th Amendment argument re: seizure made sense, I feel this is more on track. However, I am sure proponents of this actions can spin it anyway they want. More work required!
