Principles

When I was in grade school, our principal was a fellow named Mr. Simms. He was the meanest SOB I had ever encountered until later on in life. We need more principals like him. He was a "no bullshit" kind of guy and he would paddle your ass at the drop of a hat. This kind of a principal is good for America.

So you want to live in an Authoritarian society where the government paddles your ass when you don't do what you're told?
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is you idea of an enlightened leader?
Wow.

So a desire to see children disciplined now means you want a government controlled society?

And seriously, how on earth can you object to an authoritarian government controlled society. It's all you advocate for.

Of course that's not what I advocate. Read slowly and without bias and you may actually learn something.
1. I don't hold to a strict ideology.
2. Government has a public purpose
3. Religion has a private purpose.
4. Science and the Scientific Method, yes.
5. Blind faith, no.
6. Man has a brain (God given or otherwise), therefore, reason trumps emotion.
7. Keep what has value, dispose of that which does not.
8. Progress is good; honor the past but embrace the future.
9. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

You think freedom can exist without basic principles in agreement?

Well, I suppose we need to agree that children deserve our protection, but beyond that, why would we need to care about the same things? I might value animals and agitate on their behalf; you might care instead about the elderly and agitate for them. Must we ever come to an agreement?

Isn't it okay to be different, morally speaking, in an open society?

I think it would be difficult to have a diverse and open society if people didn't share the principles of tolerance or freedom of expression.

But we have just such a society and few people among us value tolerance, Avatar. I think our legal system, starting with our constitution, is what makes it work. If you are so disturbed by my presence or behavior (and it is legal) that you commit some act of aggression against me, the law offers a remedy. Knowing this undoubtedly restrains much bad behavior.

Now read your 9th point and then REVIEW all the societies that have gone to socialism and FAILED or are FAILING and explain WHY you support it HERE.

Where in this post or any other do you find evidence to suggest I support socialism?
