I think it's a good ratio for banks and other financials.

I avoid financials. Not only do they have better CFOs than me, safely deregulating them sounds like doing EOD work to me.

Book ratios are irrelevant if your I/P is self developed because you expensed all your R&D so it is not on the Balance Sheet anywhere.

P/E (price/earnings) is still the most meaningful measure of speculative risk.

Stick with the cashflow statements.

it cannot be as easily manipulated, although Enron was able to manipulate even this by borrowing and then hiding their debt in controlled foreign subs and hybrids.

Like I said it is worthless for I/P companies.
