You know how liberals love to bring up how Palin couldn't name any newspapers during her Katie Couric interview and how that is proof she's an idiot? Well, here's a similar example, except starring Sen. Harry Reid (someone with veto power) being asked a relevant question.

Liberals and conservatives alike, please remember those few seconds before he says "next question" when someone asks "why didn't Democrats pass all their wonderful legislation prior to 2010 when they had the numbers to do so?" Remember it, because the answer is they have no answer

The Republican Congress was a development because Democrats had a majority of both Houses of Congress and was a dismal failure

Why didn’t they pass immigration reform, ‘jobs’ bills, tax hikes, and whatever other visionary proposals then when they had the opportunity?

because they wanted the economy to not fall in a crater, but hey if those republicans are gonna take over, lets just tax the hell out of people.

For you liberals, why does Hollywood (you know the people that loooove taxes) should films outside of California by an increasing amount?

I'm "suprised" liberals arent upset about someone skirting taxes........

It was a stupid question for several reasons:

1. The congress was involved in getting the ACA passed. Because of Republican obstruction, it was a far more difficult task then it should have been.

2. The economy was in shambles..the focus wasn't raising taxes..but to get it out of the ditch. Again, Republicans obstructed this effort.

3. Tax cuts were set to expire..anyway.

Obama didn't have a "super 60". And that really should NOT be the way most bills are passed in this country.

You guys keep putting up this myth..and it needs to be challenged each and every time.

Because..it's just that.

A myth.

What dishonesty! Have you ever heard of the "filibuster"? Apparently not. In the period from 2009 to 2011 the Republicans in the Senate filibustered damn near everything. Look it up. Never before had so many filibusters taken place in any congress.

That is why the health care got passed by resolution. The GOP would have filibustered normal passage because it takes 6o to stop a filibuster. After the 2010 election the house majority GOP stood together as a unit and again blocked damn near everything.

If I recall correctly the tax extensions were made in a compromise that lengthened unemployment benefits and reduced the payroll tax.

There are many things to argue without being dishonest. Try it sometime.

On February 4, 2010 Scott Brown was sworn in signaling the end of the super-majority.

Depending upon which metric is used, Democrats had a super majority for roughly six months which includes the seven weeks between Franken’s swearing-in on July 8 to Ted Kennedy’s death on August 25 and the four months and nine days between Paul Kirk’s swearing-in on September 25, 2009 to his replacement by Scott Brown on February 4, 2010. This was just barely enough time to pass the biggest and most difficult health care legislation in generations; an event that would likely never have happened under any other circumstances. This also happened under the onslaught of every procedural obstruction the Republicans could put in its path.

I said they had it i didnt say for how long. U can do a lot in six months.

With Republicans obstructing everything?

No you can't.

Democrats do not function as a unit. Some Democrats are conservative. Some are almost Republicans in their philosophies..they are referred to as "Blue Dogs".

Republicans are all Conservatives.

There's no room in the party for anything else.

Even those with center right views are called RINOs.

It's a mixed bag.

If you are very wealthy..this is a great economy.

For everyone else? Not so much.

But at least people aren't on bread lines or starving.

Which..is what many conservatives really want.

Yeah, sure. But with any kind of luck all that dirty air and water will kick in before we gotta starve 'em.
