Q.How much does it take in average from the time oil is found until production?

Oil is obsolete, renewables are surging forward while oil and fossil fuels as a whole are falling behind the curve.

Step into the modern age and go Renewables

Totally with You on this one, I'd very much like Israel to step up and push at least with the solar technology we have. However as with any energy deals there're strong people clutching too hard.
Exactly my argument with Humanity a week ago.

There're 3 issues here -

1. Environmental -people are protesting this kinds of projects very strongly in Israel, against new factories, airports or chemistry. And wouldn't like to see our beautiful nature/land suffer any more.

2. Military -most of the weaponry/vehicles are still run on fossils, it could make our military less dependent until transition, and allocate some of the budget for renewable and a.g. research.

3. Global economic - it's a transition similar to robotics, even though the technology probably already exists in different countries, however it's a whole structure change that need to be done in regard to the weaker countries. It has to be done incrementally (and Saudis are already preparing).

In the long run Israel would do well to ween its military off fossil fuels and onto renewables like algae based biodiesel and alcohol based liquid fuels.

Of course, since Egypt recently found its own fuel or gas..don't remember exactly, it will help change the structure of energy relations in the region...would be a good retirement present for a certain grandpa who made sure to connect certain delicate parts of Egyptian leaders to his energy empire...making it so complicated for Israel to free itself from that deal. Israel as usually chose security, and it was something that could give it to us without any military effort for decades...and we had decades of quiet with Egypt.

Too much info? :)

As it is Israel can only function in short sharp engagements, anything protracted will certainly tax it's strategic fossil fuel reserves
