Nice going Mr. President. Cordray is > qualified by being a former Attorney General. You also DO have the political capital:

The president also was expected to announce other recess appointments on Wednesday.

Until now, he has made 28. Bush made more than 170 during his presidency. Bill Clinton made almost 140.

Obama's decision to make a recess appointment is certain to cause an uproar from Capitol Hill to Wall Street. He is essentially declaring the Senate's short off-and-on legislative sessions a sham intended to block his appointments.
The above would be true. Also, makes Wall Street banksters & Senate Repubs mad? :( Must be the right thing to do :2up:

Since recess appointments seem to be becoming standard operating procedure, and especially with this do-nothing Congress, I hope to see a lot more coming from him.

If it makes those scumbags mad then you can bet your bottom dollar that it IS the right thing to do. Excellent thread. :clap2:

it is the democratic not the democrat.

Have the same respect that you demanded of the Tea party detractors and call them by their correct title.

Isnt that rich, democrats started the practice and are now crying about it.

I think any president should give the Senate enough time to approve his appointments, they oughta have a maximum of 30 days to vote on it, up or down. The president has a job to do, and the Senate should not be attempting to slow him/her down by delaying confirmations. If they do, then he can and should use as many recess appt's as necessary.

???

So the President should have the power to unilaterally create new agencies and populate them?

Nonsense, what ever happened to the concept of checks and balances.

Who cares. Use the technical rules of the game in whatever way that one can. That is what the GOP has been doing for three years, now they can eat some of their own shit.

I thought the democratics were crying foul when Boooooosh did this sort of thing?

Times they are a-changin'....

You bet. I can still hear the Dems screaming bloody murder when Bush did this. It was viewed as going around Congress.

Times they are indeed a-changin.
