RealClearPolitics - Election Other - President Obama Job Approval
...president Obama is well into damage control mode in an attempt to buttress his defenses against the oncoming reelection storm now confronting him. One huge advantage that president Obama has in his camp is his charismatic personality. His ability to 'appear' the ultimate statesman & provide EXCELLENT oratory for the occasion in question is not in doubt. Where president Obama is weak is on his failed economic/financial policy. The USA at current is rapidly wakening up to the dangers of big all intrusive government, & not just economically/financially. President Obama's growth of the public sector & tax payer funded bailouts has not gone unnoticed, & this is where he needs damage control fast.
Mitt Romney has the oratory skills to compete against president Obama, as well as his own 'drier' mode of charisma. Mitt also is every bit as progressive as president Obama making Mitt a 'safe bet' for the blue blood part of the repub constituency that favors big government. Mitt's only known weaknesses are his inability to connect correctly with the big money/big government religious right faction of the GOP, & also his flip flopping which has reached the point of creating a scandal. Despite Mitt's weaknesses he is deemed at current the best choice to drop president Obama & walk away with the title.
Ron Paul, the only other viable GOP candidate that can go it toe to toe with president Obama has his own strengths & weaknesses. Ron lacks the oratory skills to compete effectively against the dynamic Obama oratory. As bad or worse, Ron's age is of SERIOUS consideration, many believing that he will be pushing daisies before his 1st term is even complete. To offset these two disadvantages Ron has pulled off an engineering marvel in the world of candidate support... Ron has been successful in crossing the great divide, thus garnering a substantial number of the independent & & some of the Democrat constituency...
Robert Naiman: If Ron Paul Wins Iowa, Antiwar Democrats and Independents Likely to Provide Margin of Victory

...Ron has an advantage from the support of this increasing Libertarian movement also. Ron's base is MUCH wider than president Obama's current pro war, big government/big bussiness base, as Ron can draw from small government conservatives, owns 25% of the rank & file military vote, has the support of the anti war crowd, end the war on drugs crowd, some Tea Party activists, Constitutional based 3rd parties & those in the alternative lifestyles.
The most telling advantage for Ron Paul is the YOUTH movement that has formed behind him, those in the under 34 age bracket...
Youth Gravitate Toward Ron Paul, Christian News
"He who owns the youth owns tomorrow" & according to the link above that is about 20% of America's youth, & in the link below...
Ron Paul now on top in Iowa, Gingrich fading fast :: Liberty Maven
...it's 33% of the under 45 crowd with 25% of Iowan independents/Democrats also rallying behind Ron. Take this to the national level(bound to be close) & president Obama has quite the fight on his hands to retain his title of POTUS. Still, president Obama has risen in his job approval rating & has one HUGE advantage over both Mitt & Ron, as they have to actually surpass president Obama, not just match him. How do you see the outcome in the 12' POTUS election?
