What's with the QC program? Why are obvious glitches left in the record? Did the Arctic really lose a million km^2 one day and gain it back the next? Is that reasonable?
 
Ian, there are more than one satellite recording the extent of the ice. So, if there is a glitch in one, you can referance the others.
