Lithium Metal Polymer Battery from DBM Energy - Secret of The World Record With Electric Car Revealed - Business Exchange

Audi A2 DBM Specifications
Empty weight: 2,620 pounds <-- That is a light aluminum car with a battery big enough for a 375 mile AER trip!

Battery Detail: Li-Fe-Poly (260 Ah/380 V) cell voltage of 3.8 volts <-- 100 kWh pack?

Battery weight: 660 pounds <-- More than likely 120 kWh at a .2 kWh/mile minimum from just 660 pounds? Yet another game changing "Super Battery" Spec.

Charging Time Average: Approximately 4 hours for 70-miles AER at maximum V and Current from a European household circuit.

Charging Time Minimum: 6 minutes (a future solution) <-- Got a Coal or Nuke Plant nearby that you can tap into its 345 kV AC through a rectified super DC circuit? In addition, a charge rate that high leads to a discharge rate of enormous proportions. How much HP you want is only limited by the size and current capability of the electric motor you want to install and the Inverter and BUS' current limited capacity. That is if you use an A/C motor ;)

Battery Cycle Limit: Life Time of 2500 full charge cycles with no loss of capacity! <-- Yet another game changing "Super Battery" Spec.

Battery Service Life Target: 300,000 miles <-- Jesus H. ...

Top speed: 99 mph

Transmission: 5-speed MT

Motor Torque: 230 lb-ft.

Much more information on the site.

CO2 released into the atmosphere to research, develop, and manufacture is what is relevant. Why are these figures hidden. Whats the big secret.

Drive your old car for another ten years and you save the environment the toxic waste of a six hundred pound battery.

Aluminum smelting uses four times the energy as steel, that is four times the CO2. Old Crock is promoting a car that is a filthy polluter during manufacturing.

Notice the trend, all the "Green" ideas consume the earths resources at an alarming higher rate. Corporations dont care, they profit by the same factor of consumption increase.

LOL. Same ol' idiocy from mdn. Waiting for CF, Walleyes, and Si to add their objections to the future.

Four times the energy to manufacture, that is without the battery.

Tell us how much CO2 is created manufacturing the battery.

Idiocy is to post without being able to respond when challenged, again, and again, and again.

Dingleberry, perhaps you did not notice that the Audi 2 was just a test platform for the battery? As to what kind of car would be would eventually be manufacted, and whether it would be steel, carbon fibre, or aluminum, is yet to be seen.

However, your objections to anything like progress is duly noted. Just waiting for the other Neanderthals to chime in.

116 miles in an electric vehicle? No problem. But you'll quite literally be pushing your new Nissan Leaf another 250 miles to achieve what's being hailed as a world record in Germany. Little Lekker Mobil, a four-seat Audi A2 refitted with an experimental electric powerplant as part of a government sponsored project with Germany's lekker Energie and DBM Energy, just completed a 372-mile (600-km) stretch of road between Munich and Berlin on a single charge, a journey that lasted around seven hours. Even with the heater running, the modified A2 with fully usable trunk arrived with spare electricity in the "tank." The battery uses DBM Energy's KOLIBRI AlphaPolymer Technology said to be 97 percent efficient and chargeable from virtually any socket -- plug it into a high voltage DC source and it can be fully charged in just six minutes according to the car's driver and battery inventor, Mirko Hannemann. While Hannemann wouldn't be pinned down on pricing for the battery, the 27 year old did say that it would be more powerful and cheaper than conventional lithium ion batteries. He even went so far as to suggest that his company was ready to begin mass production of the batteries now -- presumably aided by the large sacks of money he'll be handed after pulling off the record breaking stunt."

DBM Energy, a German company, has revealed a revolutionary prototype battery technology that's achieved a quantum leap forward.

Working with funds raised by a joint venture between the giant German electric utility company Lekker Energie and the German Economic Ministry, the innovative battery breaks new ground. According to DBM, their battery's efficiency is 97 percent and has a jaw-dropping fast ultra-fast recharge time of merely 6 minutes.

The battery also provides enough juice to power a vehicle at a speed of 55mph for 375 miles. That would enable a motorist to take a drive up the coast from Los Angeles to San Francisco—a six-hour trip fo a 6-minute charge up.

Working with Audi, the battery powerpack was adopted to create the "A2." [Photo] This vehicle represents the biggest advance in electric automotive technology ever.

That's a big 10-4.

Not practical.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's government aims to have one million electric cars on the road by 2020, but Germany's car giants have been slow off the starting grid and are now scrambling to catch up with their Asian rivals.

World-leading luxury car maker BMW and Europe's biggest manufacturer Volkswagen have both said they intend to launch their first vehicles in 2013.

In contrast, last week, Japan's Nissan said it had started mass producing its Leaf electric car and is poised to put it on sale both at home and in the United States.

Nevertheless, Berlin has offered sweeteners to jump-start its national champions and hopes that by 2050, gas-guzzlers could be a thing of the past.

"Let the message go out to the world. Germany is again a technological leader," said Bruederle.

Old Crock, I read the article, its not even the original article as this article about an article states in said article. Better read that three or four times Old Crock and let it sink in.

This link to an article about another article is full of "if", I understand "if" means, "maybe", the article even states, "maybe".

I get it Old Crock, your position is fantasy.

Even if these claims will be true by only half in a normal market and industrial conditions we, maybe, have already stepped in another era for EVs.

Germany is a small pond. They are used to a lower middle class standard of living. They can only afford to drive small cars and live in small houses.

Which has nothing to do with this thread.

I found this picture without the Audi body. Nice leap forward in technology.

Sure, Germany is a small pond. A small pond that is the biggest exporter in the world after the totallity of the EU and China. Were we in that postition, our deficit would be in much better shape. And if this battery is as good as stated, they are going to have a premier export in that area.

Yes it does. Electric golf carts to replace automobiles are not a solution for the American culture.

An electric car is not a golf cart.

Our dependence on foreign oil is one of our greatest security problems. Electric cars are part of the solution.

Why should Americans be forced to do with less?

Is Obama's dependence on foreign debt not a security problem?
