A SYNDICATE of Geelong transport workers has been rocked by allegations that one of its members may have legged it with a $16.7 million Powerball windfall.

Documents obtained by the Herald Sun reveal 14 people will this week ask the Supreme Court to order Tattersalls Sweeps to hand over the name of one of three winners of a $50 million jackpot.

The “Powerball 14” allegedly became suspicious after one of the men in their syndicate left their Geelong transport company and the syndicate learnt Tattersalls had delivered a bottle of champagne to him.

“They suspect that he did win because of his change of routine — he has acquired lots of assets recently,” a source said. “They have never got a satisfactory explanation from him. These people are all workers, to get $1 million will change their whole life.”
