Yes the times are changing
Experts say Arizona could become a minority-majority state nearly 15 years before than the nation overall.
Arizona's white residents are dying faster than they are being born, a shift researchers say will further shake up the rapidly changing face of the state's population.
The phenomenon, known as "natural decrease," is occurring in a record 17 states nationwide, according to a study released by the University of New Hampshire's Carsey School of Public Policy.
Demographers analyzed data from 1999 through 2014 for the report. Arizona's non-Hispanic white deaths began to outpace births in 2012.
"Think of Arizona's population like an hourglass, with the bottom representing the white people who are aging out of the workforce and ultimately dying," said Joe Garcia, director of the Morrison Institute's Latino Public Policy Center.
"At the top are young minorities, primarily Latinos, who are going through K-12 education and entering into the workforce," he said.
