Post Convention Bounce

The republicans chanted USA at more than the poor hispanic woman. Unless you consider that being hispanic automatically makes her not an American. Democrats might be so inculcated into separatism that hispanics are considered unAmerican.

If someone is going to base a voting decision on values, then booing God and Jerusalem will make a difference. Chanting USA won't.

The bounce is already starting to un-bounce, according to some recent polls...

Look for more of that in the days ahead...

The booing of God and Jerusalem was a shining convention moment that will likely air often in ads in key states...

Like the Republicans chanting USA at that poor Hispanic woman.

Not sure what you're refering to, but maybe 0bama will run it in ads...

The booing and the "vote" was embarrassing and extremely awkward......

The visuals alone say a lot. Democratic convention had people from all different walks of life :) whereas the Repub convention... well... look for yourself: Panoramic: 2012 Republican National Convention

Dems covered the entire political spectrum from mild Socialist to rabidly to the left of Mao and Bernie Sanders

Hard for Romney to get a bounce for trotting out the same stale ideas that George W. Bush ran on.

And yet Obama basically dusted off his broken 2008 promises and asked for 4 more years to get the job done that he said he would do in 3.5 of his first admin. How the hell can his supporters be dumb enough to give a guy a bounce for that? Honest honey, I'll pick my clothes up off the floor......tomorrow.

Now that the conventions have passed, it seems clear that the democrats have gotten a bounce from theirs, while the GOP has not.

Why do you think that is? And do you think it's going to be dispositive of the election outcome.

Reminder: This is the CDZ. Thanks for guiding yourself accordingly.... on both sides of the aisle.

The "bounce" kind of depends on which polling you put stock in.

i'm not one of the people who relies on particular polls because they say what i want them to. i generally like the RCP average. i think it's most reflective.

as to your point, the numbers might differ slightly poll to poll, but it does seem that overall, romney didn't get one... obama did. whether that's a transient thing or not, remains to be seen.

at this point in the electoral process, trends probably matter more than actual numbers

If abortion is an issue that people are considering when casting their vote, they won't vote obama anyway. Guaranteed abortion at taxpayer expense is going to be opposed by Evangelicals who will vote for a Mormon based on that value.

No, those votes are going to Mitt already... The trouble for Mitt is that Independent women like me are not going to support leaving our reproductive rights up to State referendum. He would have SCOTUS appointments if elected and that is very real and very huge for women voters... So, IMO Mitt blew it and this whole thing is all over...

obama is losing ground among women. Mostly because not all women are one issue voters. Not all women want to pay so that other women can have free abortions and free contraception. Most women are struggling themselves and feel their rights aren't limited to reproductive rights.

Would independent women (YEAH, RIGHT!!!) like you consider making abortion a non-issue by being more cautious, smarter and less promiscuous, and as a result not getting pregnant?

Or is that too much to ask?

It's not about me or any individual women, it's about protecting individual PRIVACY rights for ALL women which IS the proper Conservative approach to the issue... Big Government regulation of our sex lives is not a Conservative ideal. Mitt is wrong on that and IMO when he took that stance, he blew the whole thing... You'll see.

You mean like the Lilly Ledbetter act?

this isn't an abortion thread.

Sorry! :salute:

It is my observation as THE turning point in this election, so enough said on that topic in this thread... I am just one little vote, but I know the sentiment I have observed outside of this forum, and people are talking about it everywhere...

no worries. as a factor, the general topic is certainly worth a mention. it just can't//shouldn't turn into another abortion thread. the merits of the issue are irrelevant to this topic.

if i may, i think what you want to say is that the women's issues and social issues have taken their toll on the numbers.

did i get that right?

Romney needed to come out of the conventions with no worse than a tie in the polls, He needed to establish himself as the candidate who can make things better

Evidently, he has failed

Yeah, that's a good way to put it...

obama has a 50% approval rating among women according to the gallup daily tracking polls.

and gallup and rasmussen (which is generally skewed right) have the president up by 5 points.

most women want to get paid the same as men for the same work.... and most women don't want men telling them what to do with their bodies.

Gallup, Rasmussen: Obama up by 5 points

When a woman demands that someone else pay for her birth control and abortions and subsidize her promiscuity she has already opened her privacy to the scrutiny of others.

That Romney is using this lie as part of his campaign is a big reason why he is losing.

This article is a day old... Rasmussen has him up by 3 today, dropping 2 in one day..

Gallup stays at +5, but who knows how much of that is intimidation...

IDB/CSM/TIPP has Barry up by 2, which is a sharp drop from their previous poll of Barry up by 7...

Democracy Corp says Barry +2, also a drop from their previous poll of Barry +4...

The bounce is un-bouncing...

well, i'm sure you hope that's true.

i hope it isn't. and i don't expect much change until the debates, if any.

lol at intimidation.
