Port Deal still crap

Yes. I'd be behind whoever stands up this, on this issue. Looks like nobody will.

NSA and the patriot act are specifically designed for national security. Where are the libs on these two issues? There are national security concerns that are REAL and then there is the hysteria raised regarding national security that is sheer unadulterated POLITICS. Our port problems have been known to us for YEARS.

myself in opposition to George Bush. I don't hesitate to compliment things I think he's done well (e.g. his recent comments on the need for more science education and on oil addiction, and his gradual movement away from dissing global warming; also, his approach towards Iran and Hamas, both of which I think he's handling excellently). And, as you know, I don't hesitate to criticize things that seem wrong to me.

On the ports deal, I actually haven't voiced an opinion yet, because I haven't made one. My primary feeling so far is that it's a distraction from the larger issue of true port security, where we're falling down badly.

Onership of the corporation that manages ... don't do me like this fonzie.

Yo Mr. C., Isn't the sale of the Company a done deal? I thought they were just bitching about the right to operate the port--not who owns em.

I clarified the issue already man. ownership of the management contracts... ok. we can call it management if you want. I don't want The governement of the UAE managing our ports. There are other business opportunities in the world. We should tell them to go fish.

Why?

Well, you're not alone. Personally I don't see it. Maybe in the next 45 days of investigation we'll get some hard information to see if your fears are justified or we would be throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Not everything can be for sale. And not everything to everyone. We have allies and we have enemies. THen we have some that are mixes of both.

You think the details of what can be bought and sold will all get worked out?
What kinds of things are going to be locked up so we can't buy them?

We'll treat it like pornography; we'll know it when we see it. Port management is it.
