If the world's population only grew at the rate of 3% per year, it would increase by 20times by the year 2100. It seems like it is time for some serious birth control around the world, especailly in countries where the women have more than 2.1 children.

Perhaps the better idea would be to direct our children, our future, into the most beneficial directions that would improve their living conditions instead of limiting how many there are of them.

You could take every human on the planet and relocate him to Texas – there’d still be room to spare.

It issue isn’t the size of the population per se but availability and access to resources such as fresh water and arable land.

And unfortunately the solutions are political, not mechanical.

This.

If the Earth gets too small for us we could go to other planets and perhaps other solar systems. Interesting that the population density reaching critical mass and technological breakthroughs like Space Travel happen at the same time. Perhaps it was no accident and maybe it was intended to be that way? Maybe we're supposed to be looking at other planets to inhabit at precisely this time in our evolution? Hmmm.

But no, the OP thinks we should kill ourselves off. What a downer, thanks alot asshole.

No need. Eventually people will be able to make Ramsbotham jumps to send Earth's excess population to colonize other planets.

The countries that have a zillion kids (except China) are usually the ones with high infant mortality rates/lower age of death/etc.

There's already birth control built into nature. Its called us exceeding the Earth's capacity to support us and our capacity to coax the Earth into supporting us - then large numbers of us starve to death, hence controlling the population.

If china has to many people, the Earth will fall over.

Colonizing other solar systems? Sounds about impossible...if even not plain inappropriate.

Its inevitable. The taxes are non-existent in other solar systems, therefore, according to the free market model, people will move there.

A false crisis that has been debunked many times.
