*Pope Confirms My Views: Evolution Is Not Where Humans Come From*

So you are in disagreement with evolutionist Mark Ridley, who currently serves as a professor of zoology at Oxford University, who was forced to confess: "In any case, no real evolutionist, whether gradualist or punctuationist, uses the fossil record as evidence in favour of the theory of evolution as opposed to special creation."

Finish the quote, where Dr. Ridley goes on to say that other evidence is so strong for evolution that we don't need the fossil record for support. It seems odd to me to use an interview strongly in favor of evolution as evidence against it.

Dr. Mark Ridley " from the false idea that the fossil record provides an important part of the evidence that evolution took place" "Evolution is proven by a totally separate set of arguments"

Can you name these set of arguments that prove evolution as Ridley states ?

Finishing on the fossil record.

The fossil record showed no evolution change and that is the reason why palaeontologists , Niles Eldredge and Stephen Jay Gould claimed that the fossil record of any any one species of animal is usually as follows. An ancestral form in the sediments,as a fossil fully formed. Fossils of the same species collected from later deposits show no evolutionary change. So they created a new theory called punctuated equilibrium.

What do you think prevents sexual reproduction from all the different kinds of animals and that humans can't reproduce with anykind but it's own ?

Incompatible DNA...different number of chromosones, etc. Nothing to do with speciation or changes over time.

In fact, if genetically different animals could interbreed and have viable offspring (chimeras), that would be a blow to evolution but would be perfectly fine under special creation. There's no reason under special creation that pigs can't have wings...but there is under evolution.

What is the proof for changes over time ?

If they have incompatible DNA how can you prove they came from each other ?

Genetics determine the off spring, where does the genetics come from ?

Just because two species are incompatible to mate, doesn't mean the DNA can't be related. Differences in the genome, particularly number of changes, are a good gauge of how long two species have seperated. Like the fact that human and chimpanzee genomes have different numbers of chromosomes and are therefore incompatible to mate. Further study of homologies in the DNA shows that one human chromosome is almost exactly the same as two chimpanzee chromosomes that must have fused during the early days of human evoltuion and the seperation from the ape line. Of course, it's all circimstancial, but if you pile up enough circumstances like that, the answer becomes obvious, we're ALL of the same "kind".

Or they were never together and could never crossbreed.

Once again that is only an opinion. Where do the chromosomes come from ?

I'll answer, you get 23 chromosomes from each parent you would have had to cross breed an ape like person with a human to produce offspring and we know that is not possible. Without crossbreeding there was never a connection between the two groups.

Because animals share some comparisons with their genes with humans does not prove we were ever connected. All it shows is God the creator could make different kinds with a similar substance.

Pope John Paul II Declares Evolution to be Fact!

Pope John Paul II, on the 23rd of October, 1996, while speaking to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences plenary session at the Vatican, declared the evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin to be fact, tacitly acknowledging that man evolved from the apes, and reducing the biblical account of Genesis to that of mere fable!

Sorry bout that,

1, In another thread I said that the Catholics do not believe in evolution.
2. Seems the Pope just came out today and agreed with me.
3, Any questions?

VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI marked the holiest night of the year for Christians by stressing that humanity isn't a random product of evolution.

Benedict emphasized the Biblical account of creation in his Easter Vigil homily Saturday, saying it was wrong to think at some point "in some tiny corner of the cosmos there evolved randomly some species of living being capable of reasoning and of trying to find rationality within creation, or to bring rationality into it."

"If man were merely a random product of evolution in some place on the margins of the universe, then his life would make no sense or might even be a chance of nature," he said. "But no, reason is there at the beginning: creative, divine reason."

Church teaching holds that Roman Catholicism and evolutionary theory are not necessarily at odds: A Christian can, for example, accept the theory of evolution to help explain developments, but is taught to believe that God, not random chance, is the origin of the world. The Vatican, however, warns against creationism, or the overly literal interpretation of the Bibilical account of creation.

Benedict's voice was hoarse and he coughed several times during the three-hour service, which ended after midnight. It was the second late night in a row for the 84-year-old pontiff following his participation in the Good Friday Way of the Cross procession at Rome's Colosseum, which commemorates Jesus' death.

On Sunday, he celebrates Easter Mass in St. Peter's Square and gives his traditional Easter greetings in dozens of languages — his last major celebration before next week's beatification of Pope John Paul II.

The Easter Vigil is the most important liturgy on the church's calendar, when the faithful mark the passage from Christ's death to his resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is rich with symbols: fire and light signifying Jesus' resurrection, and the water used to baptize people into the faith."

just because you and a dress wearing old man in Italy say so does not make it so .

So all this was created in 6 days? So man walked with the dinosaurs? Exactly where did good peoples souls go before Christ anyway? We are all products of adam and Eve so we are incestuous? Ewww.

All the scientists who specialize in fossils are liars?

The pope is a man with a view so what.

I would like to see even the pope explain how non 'living matter became living matter ?

How the first cell came into existence ?

Scientists have explained it.
I take their word over a talking snake.

Belief and empirical fact are not mutually exclusive.

The question is does empirical evidence prove a thinking intelligent creator or a natural
non intelligent natural process ?

I'm sorry it seems very easy to me that intelligence had something to do with our universe and life as we know it.
