semantics -

The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War.

and

"In God We Trust" was not made an official motto of the United States until 1956

I wonder if a federal judge could be chastized if he enlarged a photo of a Nickel, and put it up on his wall, so 'In God We Trust' would be about 2-3' wide?

The motto is "In God We Trust". It supersedes the previous by virtue of its inception date.

What I find most interesting and never knew until now was "The main feature of the reverse side of the Great Seal is a pyramid representing strength and duration. At the tope of the pyramid is an eye and the words "ANNUIT COEPTIS" meaning "He has favored our undertakings". The "HE" refers to GOD, and is in reference to the Founding Father's belief that God had favored our Nation and provided providentially for our success during the struggle for freedom. (During the Revolution, prayer was held daily in the halls of the Continental Congress.)"

For those church/state arguments and "one nation under God" issues and nect time I hear "that's not what our founding fathers and framers had in mind' issues - I will have this little nugget.

It was worth getting out of bed today!
