Pools kill more people each year than AR-15 rifles...time to ban pools...right?

AR-15 is designed to maximize the slaughter of people

Pools are not

Actually it wasn't

the M 16 fires a very small under powered round compared to the rifles it replaced. A 5.56 mm round is more likely to wound and\or incapacitate an enemy on the battlefield.

The reasoning is that injured soldiers put more of a strain on enemy resources than dead soldiers do

they would if they didnt have something better
They would use muzzleoaders if they didn't have something better - does that make the Brown Bess a weapon of war?
a stick or rock is a weapon of war if you use it that way,,,
So, "weapon of war" is a useless, meaningless term, as it, in effect, describes any and every weapon.
why do you think its useless and meaningless???
If every weapon is a weapon of war, then "weapon of war" is redundant.
and as for the 2nd A, it was meant for all arms/weapons, not just those approved by the people it was meant to protect us against,,,
OK. And?

if you say so,,but I disagree,,,

Deadly weapon/swimming pool

Is it that hard to tell the difference?

One was engineered to provide excerise, fun and relaxation. The other was engineered to kill as many people as quickly as possible.

Is it that hard to tell the difference?

It doesn't matter one is the actual cause of deaths by drowning it doesn't take a person to make you drown in a pool

The other all by itself cannot harm anyone and must be wielded by a person
Like a Car.
or a knife or a baseball bat etc

People like to say a gun is designed to kill therefore that is the purpose of a gun.

I disagree with that and say that it is the person who is using the tool that defines the purpose of the tool.

sorry but guns are designed to kill,,,you can of course do other things with them,,,

No

Guns are designed to propel a projectile at a target of the users choosing.

Whether or not that gun kills is decided by the person firing it.

A hammer is designed to concentrate the force of a blow to a very small area. The purpose of the hammer is whatever the person using it decides it is.
I think when the first gun was made it was for the purpose of killing,,whether that be food or human,,,

the last thing they were thinking about was a tin can or piece of paper

the last thing they were thinking about was a tin can or piece of paper

It was made to fire a projectile at a target faster and with more power than a bow and arrow or a spear.

The target is the choice of the person

Gun powder was invented for fireworks not weapons but it is the user of the gun powder that decides the purpose

What was the original purpose of a gun?
Guns were originally created for the purpose of killing other people in war. Every advancement in firearm technology was for the purpose of making firearms more effective in killing.

Why guns exist is irrelevant.

They do exist and you can never unring that bell.

All that matters is the way guns are used today and the vast majority of guns in the hands of the public are not used to kill anyone.

The anti-gun logic goes....people are killed by AR-15 rifles....we must ban AR-15 rifles....

So...using that kind of insane logic....pools kill more people....a lot more people.....than AR-15 rifles each and every year...therefore...we need to ban pools.....

People killed by all rifle types in 2017....403

People killed by pools every year? Over 3,500

No One Really Needs to Have a Pool in Their Yard - The Truth About Guns

In the news recently, was another celebrity toddler drowning. As horrible as that is, this tragedy was one of over 3500 unintentional drownings that occur yearly in the U.S. , not counting boating accidents. Skier Bode Miller‘s family experienced a similar heartache just last year.

Why am I bringing up these horrible toddler deaths on a gun page? Because child death by drowning is a far bigger problem than child death by firearms. In fact as the CDC itself states: “Drowning is responsible for more deaths among children 1-4 than any other cause except congenital anomalies (birth defects). Among those 1-14, fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death behind motor vehicle crashes.”

Yet you wouldn’t know that by the amount of noise we hear from the American Academy of Pediatrics and other medical societies about firearms versus what we hear about water safety.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has recently updated their policy statement regarding drowning and has a web page which includes a list of Swim Safety Tips.

The tips run the gamut from ways to secure your pool, to CPR training for adults, to safety equipment that should be available near a pool.

You know what is conspicuously absent from all of this advice? Telling parents to NOT have a pool, to NOT buy a boat, and to NEVER EVER go to the beach or lake.

Another conspicuous absence is the lobbying of government officials to place ever greater restrictions on swimming pools, boats, and bodies of natural water large and small, and even to ban some pools and boats completely.

Also absent is the demonization of the bathtub industry and the pool lobby, bills to sue pool manufacturers for deaths that they callously enable, and the advice to grill other parents about their pool habits and if there is any standing water or toilets where children play.

Hey 2a, let's be serious.

Almost EVERYTHING kills more people than AR-15s.

The only people who think they are a problem are the Leftard Democratic wing of the Media.

Gun grabber control freaks don't care about the truth which is why they only talk about school shootings or mass shootings which don't even account for 1% of all murders

because we are not clear and say not all guns are for killing is one reason why they think they can regulate them,,,when the truth is they are and why none should be regulated

What is the real purpose of a semi-automatic firing systemfed by a high capacity magazine? A machine that propels large amounts of lead at high velocity. What could we do with that?

The real purpose...to save the life of the owner of the rifle. Either by stopping a violent attacker or used for hunting to provide food.

According to your logic, since “few” people are killed by bazookas, they should be legal and easily purchased?
Maybe that guy in Las Vegas could have killed more people that night, which would change your argument then.

No, twit......a Bazooka is not used for self defense......it doesn't fit the definition of bearable arms, and we haven't had bazookas for about 50 years.....

OK
RPGs

Lol
ARs and the like are sporting rifles, nothing more nothing less.
No different than any other semi automatic, which most rifles are... Don’t judge a book by its cover
sporting is what you do with them,,,same as assault,,,

its these descriptions that confuse the discussions,,,all guns are designed for killing but can be used for other things like sporting,,,
Sporting means hunting, plinking, etc...
ARs and the like have never been military grade... They could never pass muster.

So calling them assault weapons is plainly dishonest and ignorant...

I dont consider hunting a sport,,,,its called getting food, if it were a sport the animal would have a gun too,,,
a sport is two sides competing under the same rules

but if you use one to assault people that makes it an assault weapon,,

and only because we have better they dont pass muster, but they would be very effective in a war situation,,,
Make no mistake Hunting is a sport, Both sustenance and trophy.

Most rifles sold are semi automatic you pull the trigger and one round is fired… That’s what semi automatic is. And no military would except Ars and the like for warfare... Military weapons have to pass military muster… ARs would never

they would if they didnt have something better

and trophy hunters disgust me

its these play on words that have us losing the debate on the 2nd A

Over the counter ARs and the like have never been used by any military, they are useless for such purposes. They don’t have m-4 ramps, barrels and gas chambers Which of all three are absolutely necessary for any type of military grade weapon.

You don’t understand trophy hunting, It actually is the best thing for game populations....
It adds value to a species much greater than any other form of conservation...
It ensures the best genetics into the population for the longest amount of time...
It ensures that declining/old animals do not pass on their genetics...
It make sure that animals with disease and bad genetics are not part of the population...
Trophy Hunting is as old is civilization itself... It is a great sport
In Third World countries it feeds populations and gives them a source of income....
Here in North America it is absolutely the best way to prolong a healthy population of game animals...
You need to be more open minded on the subject

The Second Amendment is an absolute right less someone fucks it up for themselves... And political correctness is no way to judge anything that is good
