Politics is all social engineering. Pubs have been giving the rich a-holes the advantage for 30 years.

The progessives ran their course against Pub BS in the Roaring Bubble of the 20's.

People pick progressive because they actually think the 'progress' in the word means progress. Just like liberalism, lefties have screwed up another word.

The root word for Progressive is progress and defined thusly:

1. a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage: the progress of a student toward a degree.

2. developmental activity in science, technology, etc., especially with reference to the commercial opportunities created thereby or to the promotion of the material well-being of the public through the goods, techniques, or facilities created.

3 advancement in general.

4. growth or development; continuous improvement: He shows progress in his muscular coordination.

5. the development of an individual or society in a direction considered more beneficial than and superior to the previous level.

Now the right can and will spin history and linguistics to fit their agenda, but to the informed it only makes them look dishonest.

Most of the above is VERY subjective.

Why is it liberal socialists hate being called by their name?

I am a PROUD conservative

^^Roger this.

These assholes won't admit to what they are...

Goes to show how manipulative words can be when it comes to public opinion, and those who embrace the Progressive label are often masters of language manipulation. Of course something with the root word "Progress" will be seen in a positive light, when the light really must be shown on those who hide behind such manipulative euphamisms.

As to progress, C.S. Lewis put it like this...

First, as to putting the clock back. Would you think I was joking if I said that you can put a clock back, and that if the clock is wrong it is often a very sensible thing to do? But I would rather get away from the whole idea of clocks. We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man. We have all seen this when doing arithmetic. When I have started a sum the wrong way, the sooner I admit this and go back and start over again, the faster I shall get on. There is nothing progressive about being pigheaded and refusing to admit a mistake. And I think if you look at the present state of the world, it is pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistake. We are on the wrong road. And if that is so, we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.

The young prefer socialism because they know what it is and aren't a bunch of Cold War dinosaurs/dittoheads like you dodos...LOL

("Coincidentally, the approval number for socialism is also the number of Americans who know what it is (Nowadays, "social democracy", fair regulation to protect the citizens from the cruelty of savage capitalism- in other word's we already have it, just a stupid version running on default GOP lines)... )"

Progressives have a proud history. We're in good company.
