Poll: Huckabee, Gingrich, Palin or Pawlenty?

Also, that you agree with those nutty positions only goes to show you're nutty.

Wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Well the first four sound good to me, I'll need you to back up the fifth however. I've never heard him call for the repeal of the Civil Rights Act.

He did so on the House floor.

Mr. Speaker, I rise to explain my objection to H.Res. 676. I certainly join my colleagues in urging Americans to celebrate the progress this country has made in race relations. However, contrary to the claims of the supporters of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the sponsors of H.Res. 676, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 did not improve race relations or enhance freedom. Instead, the forced integration dictated by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 increased racial tensions while diminishing individual liberty.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave the federal government unprecedented power over the hiring, employee relations, and customer service practices of every business in the country. The result was a massive violation of the rights of private property and contract, which are the bedrocks of free society. The federal government has no legitimate authority to infringe on the rights of private property owners to use their property as they please and to form (or not form) contracts with terms mutually agreeable to all parties. The rights of all private property owners, even those whose actions decent people find abhorrent, must be respected if we are to maintain a free society.

...

In conclusion, Mr. Speaker, while I join the sponsors of H.Res. 676 in promoting racial harmony and individual liberty, the fact is the Civil Rights Act of 1964 did not accomplish these goals. Instead, this law unconstitutionally expanded federal power, thus reducing liberty. Furthermore, by prompting raced-based quotas, this law undermined efforts to achieve a color-blind society and increased racial strife. Therefore, I must oppose H.Res. 676.

The Trouble With Forced Integration by Rep. Ron Paul

Interesting. He's right, of course, but I'd never heard him call for the repeal of the Civil Rights Act.

Huckabee believes the earth is only a few thousand years old and we were "shimmered" into being from dirt by an invisible spirit who had to "rest" after creating 400 billion TRILLION visible stars. Odd that. That the same magical spirit made so many dead worlds. Were they mistakes?

Yea, I think he would make a thoughtful and intelligent president.

And President Obama believes in that same "magical spirit" and that same book.

Because they call something by the same name, doesn't mean they share the same beliefs. First of all, those on the right believe he is a Muslim and second, I'm positive that he has never recieved magical spells of "protection" against witchcraft.

palin is the only one of the bunch that would have no problem tearing down the socialist policies liberals have spunked all over America for decades.

How is it possible to listen to Sarah Palin during any non scripted interview and consider her anything but a foolish, uneducated and ridiculous woman?

All those choices suck.
Fortunately we have no idea who the choices will be. At this time in the last cycle no one predicted Obama would have a chance.
Personally I think Haley Barbour would be great.

I wonder the exact same thing with President Obama. In any un scripted interview where he has no access to his teleprompter how can you consider him anything but a foolish, uneducated and ridiculous woman?

So...did he say something wrong here? Sounds pretty spot on to me. It doesn't mean he hates non whites, he is saying forced tolerance doesn't exactly equal acceptance. It just means you aggitate both sides by forcing them to congregate. Before the bill were there not some whites and non-whites that got along? The bill didn't really help anything. That to me is a lame basis for saying he has bullshit stances.

Palin would be a Democrat's dream.

I'd like to see Gingrich. The campaign certainly would be fascinating. He's an interesting guy.

He'd also be a Dem's dream.

I don't think any of them are near ready for much scrutiny nor a run against Obama. Pawlenty turned out to be surprisingly dull waiting for that VP tap. How embarrassing for him.

There is a current Republican candidate poll running until Nov 3 that includes Palin, Gingrich, Huckabee, and Romney. Go to robbingamerica.blogspot.com and take a look. And Vote if you wish.

There is any interesting discussion going on over at Mitt Romney Central; the poll posted there proposes the following hypothetical:

Romney does not run in 2012. There are four candidates who have composed formal campaigns to win the GOP nomination – Huckabee, Palin, Gingrich, and Pawlenty. You are standing in the booth, ballot in hand. Who do you cast it for? Sorry no write-ins here. (Of course this poll is aimed at Romney supporters, but if you are not among them feel free to vote up your candidate.)

I wanted to see what y'all thought about this hypothetical... please reply with sound reasons why or why not a particular candidate would be good or bad for a run against Obama in 2012 (2011)

The correct answer is Duncan Hunter.
