Poll: FDR # 1 President

It's always amusing to watch people who are comfortable criticize FDR. You won't meet many people who lived through the depression and World War II who feel that way.
My ancestors on both sides lived through the depression in the US. None felt strongly about him one way or the other but had no problem criticizing him when they felt criticism was due.

Like it or not, all Presidents are products of their time.
That's no excuse for the internment of over 100,000 citizens in concentration camps solely because of their race and national origin.

The list seems consistent with earlier polls. Watch for Obama to break the top 10 before his eight years are up. Bush at 39 looks about as high as he will go. Once more is known about the dirty secrets of his administration and the long term impacts, he will drop even lower.

Bush is easily the worst President in the modern era.

Great evidence of the leftist indoctrination in both edumacation and pop culture.

Of course. Do you live to whine? Everyone is ganging up on you right? W wasn't near the President that his father was. He will continue to drop like the rock that he is.

Obama no. 15...hummm 18 months in? kinda like the Nobel nod; nice suite, correct pigmentation, clean & articulate, ideologically stuck in a 60's Berkeley time warp, nuke free world, nothing achieved....but its all in front of him!!!:eusa_pray:

Nobody's ganging up on anyone...As the linked piece in the OP freely admitted, the poll was taken from a bunch of pointy-headed academic types, who are overwhelmingly leftist as a group.

Them's just the facts, tovarich.

Really easy for you to get lib douchebags to rank well, when you're polling a bunch of lib professors.

The Shrub is nowhere near as horrible as LBJ, who has the blood of 58,000+ American boys on his hands.

More right wing whining by the Dude....

Yea all scientists and historians are picking on the poor conservatives. Problem is, conservatives never accomplish anything. They are there to impede progress and find themselves on the wrong side of history.

Bush had nothing to point to as a success and all his gambles turned into disasters. At least LBJ had a strong social agenda that counterbalanced his Viet Nam debacle

Yeah, he would really have to screw up to drop to, let's say W's level. You know, invade a country on false pretrense, totally screw the economy by handing the rich a tax cut during two wars, or step on Consitutional rights. Maybe if he did a couple of those things, he would drop to W's level...:lol::lol::lol:

Take heart, the youth are turning on their parents values and beliefs. You can already see the beginning of it. Thanks for the alternative media and the interwebnetz.

But I'd love to see the internals on that poll. Who'd they poll? The Harvard Faculty?

Of course he did.

Had it not been for Vietnam, I'd choose LBJ. No other president did more for civil rights.

Yep, he got them Niggas voting democrat for 50 years. Of course he did it at the expense of congressional democrats who still wanted to keep the black community in Jim Crow Segregation South.

And the best part! His war on poverty has wasted over 2 trillion dollars to date and poverty rates today are the SAME as they were in the 1960's! But at least they're even more dependent on the race baiting groups that claim kinship to Dr. King, while retaining NONE of the same philosophy. Content of character? Pah! what's that get me? I gots ta git PAYED!

Yep, real great president there. I'm sure the Vietnam think he's a great president too.

In fact: "How has poverty changed over time? ~~ In the late 1950s, the poverty rate for all Americans was 22.4 percent, or 39.5 million individuals. These numbers declined steadily throughout the 1960s, reaching a low of 11.1 percent, or 22.9 million individuals, in 1973. Over the next decade, the poverty rate fluctuated between 11.1 and 12.6 percent, but it began to rise steadily again in 1980. By 1983, the number of poor individuals had risen to 35.3 million individuals, or 15.2 percent. // For the next ten years, the poverty rate remained above 12.8 percent, increasing to 15.1 percent, or 39.3 million individuals, by 1993. The rate declined for the remainder of the decade, to 11.3 percent by 2000. From 2000 to 2004 it rose each year to 12.7 in 2004. // Since the late 1960s, the poverty rate for people over 65 has fallen dramatically. The poverty rate for children has historically been somewhat higher than the overall poverty rate. The poverty rate for people in households headed by single women is significantly higher than the overall poverty rate."
