Do you understand the difference between getting high or drunk and getting high and drunk and operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery? The difference is some people behave responsibly and some do not. Make the substance illegal does not make idiots behave responsibly anymore than having booze legal has cut down on drunken brawls or drunk driving.

Guns are legal but some people use them in illegal ways and harm others. Should we ban guns? Hell no!

Making laws that restrict responsible people because there are some irresponsible people in the world is what Nanny government is all about and is to be rejected at every turn.
