Neither the greatness of our nation nor patriotic love for it need be--or even can be-- based upon one's individual like or dislike of the prevailing regime. Who among us would not want to volunteer time if we had it to spare realistically to build ramps for the disabled. Can you afford in finances or time away to hop on plane and fly down there to do some volunteer work? Someone in their community needs to step up and build some ramps for the disabled so they can vote, yes? That is the great American way, not whining about what the government has yet to provide.

Well America has never really been great. There are good things about it, but it has never been great.

It's only been great if you're a white male.

It started off with European settlers raping, killing, and trying to enslave the natives. When the natives couldn't handle the white man diseases, they went to Africa and had them chained and shipped by boat. Enslaved them for over 200 years. Then after slavery was over they made segration where they could still legally treat blacks like shit.

Then America dropped a nuke on Japan and sent Japanese people to entrapment camp ( great times America).

Then in the 50s and 60s people protested and took to the streets because they didn't want black kids going to school with their precious white kids.

Then America starts a long war with Vietnam where thousands of people's children got killed.

In the 80s America funded Al-Qaeda to defeat the Soviets. Then Reagan was elected and create the trickle down shit storm that has caused our current economic problems.

American history hasn't been to great.

America in terms of education, Healthcare and quality of life lags behind other developed nations.

If we were great we'd be number one in those things.
