Shootings, mass shootings, gun free zones, background checks, no one really seems to be interested in confronting reality.

For Democrats, it is one of their wedge issues, and thanks to their ownership of the media and the schools, they will never be called out on it.

Let's start here:

1. The Democrats are the party that looks at the mayhem their gun laws have produced in Chicago, ……and this is their model for the nation.
One needs to ask these Democrats, which gun laws do criminals, killers, thugs, and the mentally ill, obey.

2. Every gun law is aimed at the most law-abiding citizens in the nation.
The most successful anti-illegal gun project was "stop and frisk." Liberals killed it.

3. Permit holders are extremely law abiding. They would lose their permits for any weapons-related infraction. It doesn’t happen
  1. Example: “Of the 51,078 permits that have been issued by the state since the law took effect in 2007, 44 permit holders have been charged with a crime while using a firearm through late October, according to records provided by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.”

  3. http://www.kansas.com/2012/11/17/2572467/few-crimes-committed-by-concealed.html ( .00086%)

4. The CDC studied laws throughout the country, and found: “In summary, the Task Force found insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence.” http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/pdf/rr/rr5214.pdf

5. "Over 98% of mass shootings occurred on gun-free zones, research shows"
According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, from the 1950’s through July 10th of 2016, 98.4 percent of mass shootings have occurred on gun-free zones, with just 1.6 percent occurring where citizens are allowed to have firearms with them."
Over 98% of mass shootings occurred on gun-free zones, research shows

6. From 1994 through 2004, a federal ban on ‘assault weapons’ was in place, and it had no detectable effect on crime.

7. Which politicians have written a law that mandates a five year federal sentence for any person found with an unlicensed gun?
None.

8. Why is it no Liberal/Democrat can explain this?
In Brownsville, Brooklyn, the per capita shooting rate is 81 times higher than in nearby Bay Ridge, Brooklyn—the first neighborhood predominantly black, the second neighborhood predominantly white and Asian. As a result, police presence and use of proactive tactics are much higher in Brownsville than in Bay Ridge.

This incidence of crime means that innocent black men have a much higher chance than innocent white men of being stopped by the police because they match the description of a suspect. This is not something the police choose. It is a reality..." The Danger of the “Black Lives Matter” Movement

Again?

'In Brownsville, Brooklyn, the per capita shooting rate is 81 times higher than in nearby Bay Ridge, Brooklyn—the first neighborhood predominantly black, the second neighborhood predominantly white and Asian.'

Brownsville population, ......60,000

Bay Ridge population.......70,000

9. At least fourteen recent school shootings were committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs. It is important to note the following lists cases where the information about the shooters psychiatric drug use was made public. To give an example, although it is known that James Holmes, suspected perpetrator of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting, was seeing psychiatrist Lynne Fenton, there has been no mention of what psychiatric drugs he may have been taking—though it is highly probably he was taking psychiatric drugs considering he was under a psychiatrist’s “care”. Also note that all these mass shootings didn’t just occur in the United States.

Of these 14, seven were seeing either a psychiatrist (5 of them) or psychologist (2 of them). It is not known whether or not the other half were seeing a psychiatrist, as it has not been published.

10. And, with everything written about the El Paso, and Dayton shootings, why has nothing...NOTHING...been written about the Obama 'Promise Program' that forbid arresting minority thugs, thus allowing Nikolas Cruz to pass a background check, buy a gun that killed 17 innocents at Parkview???/

For #9, school shootings, I have a thread on shootings at public schools vs private/Catholic schools.
As far as I know all school shootings by students have been at public schools. I don't know the percentages of students on ant-depressants, which has been identified as a probable contributing factor to the shootings. I got a lot of push-back for saying that the are no Catholic school shooters, but there haven't been any, zero, none, zilch.

Catholic schools, spared from mass school shootings, remain vigilant

https://www.quora.com/How-many-high-schools-are-there-in-the-US
In the United States, there are about 26,407 public secondary schools, and 10,693 private secondary schools.

So say that there are about 2.5x as many public schools as private/Catholic High Schools. However many school shootings there have been by students, there have been nopne at private/Catholic schools. That seems significant to me. What are the private/Catholic schools doing right?

I shudder to imagine what America will be like if the Liberals ever gain complete control, and religion is erased from the civic arena.

I'm a big supporter of private school vouchers, where the school taxes we pay could be credited to private schools our kids are attending.
It wouldn't cover all tuition, but it might keep private schools financially viable.

A long-running voucher program boosted college graduation rates among low-income students, a recently released study shows, providing powerful evidence for the continuing positive effects of voucher-based approaches to education."

We're a home-school family....no tax benefits here.

It is scary. But I fear the indoctrination in our public schools for so many years makes it inevitable. God bless you for taking the time to home school your children.

What a lovely post.

Thank you!

"Why School Shootings: Not Enough God, Not Enough Guns
...when a salesman came door to door selling home security systems. He told the salesman he already had one. “What’s your security system?” he asked. The man replied, “God and a loaded gun.”

It wasn’t a matter of either/or but both/and. I suggest we have mass school shootings because we don’t have enough God on our campuses and we don’t have enough guns.

... there is absolutely NO constitutional prohibition against prayer in schools. Schools routinely incorporated prayer into their school days from the Founding until 1963, when activist judges mangled the Constitution and mysteriously materialized a prohibition out of the judicial ether, a prohibition that had remained completely undetected since 1791 when the Bill of Rights was first enacted.

The Founders intended to leave all matters of religious regulation in the hands of the states.

As Joseph Story, appointed to the Supreme Court by the Father of the Constitution, James Madison, wrote (emphasis mine), “Thus, the whole power over the subject of religion is left exclusively to the state governments, to be acted upon according to their own sense of justice, and the state constitutions.” Bottom line, according to the Founders’ Constitution, if a state wants to allow prayer in schools, it is absolutely free to do so.

...It’s instructive to compare the number of school shootings prior to 1963 when prayer was permitted in schools and the number after when it wasn’t. According to Wikipedia, the number of school shootings by decade from 1900 until 1970 looks like this: 15, 19, 10, 9, 8, 17 (in the 1960s).

The increase by decade after prayer was removed from schools is almost geometric: 30 (in the 1970s), 39, 62, 60, and 145 (from 2010 to 2018, with the number growing virtually by the month).

The number of deaths from school shootings follows a similarly grisly progression. In the six decades prior to the removal of prayer from schools (1900-1960), there were 62 deaths from school shootings, an average of just over 10 per year. In the six decades since (1960-2017) the number has ratcheted up astronomically to 419 (from 28 in the 1960s to 124 so far in this decade), an average of just under 70 per year.

It has always been a matter of obvious and demonstrable fact that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Without unbridled school choice, charter school development, the degradation of our educational system, and socialist indoctrination will continue. Simply put the teachers union and their political action committee remain in total control, and their focus is not on education.
