grab hold of him?)

He hated being born half-White
and fought to embrace his lighter side.
But party politics decided
being Black got folks excited!
Soon the nation was divided....

Pushing hard to criticize,
opponents mocked his Nobel Prize,
while threats of civil war reprised,
comparing him with Jesus Christ.

The biased media jumped on board,
so back and forth, and 'round they went.
Not everyone was ready for
a "Halfrican-American" President!
