Police: "No footage yet of alleged attack on ‘Empire’ actor"

By DON BABWIN ~~ Chicago police say they’ve reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven’t found footage yet of the alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett. The department said in a news release late Tuesday that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
Smollett told police he was walking downtown near the Chicago River at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when two masked men hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him, beat him, threw an “unknown substance” on him and put a rope around his neck.... We haven’t seen anybody, at this point, matching the description he gave. Nobody looks menacing, and we didn’t find a container anywhere,” Guglielmi said, referring to a container for the liquid that the actor said was thrown at him.... Chicago has one of the nation’s most sophisticated and extensive video surveillance systems, including thousands of cameras on street poles, skyscrapers, buses and in train tunnels.... Police say the cameras have helped them make thousands of arrests. In one of the best-known examples of the department’s use of the cameras, investigators in 2009 were able to recreate a school board president’s 20-minute drive through the city, singling out his car on a succession of surveillance cameras to help them determine that he committed suicide and had not been followed and killed by someone else, as his friends speculated.

His story had all the hallmarks of sheer fantasy anyway. Was Smollett really attacked?
Is this hoax it all about getting publicity for a failing show and a washed up actor?
Are we to believe gangs of marauding Trump supporters are roaming the streets at 2am looking for black, gay actors from some hip-hop soap opera to attack?
Before investigating a "Hate Crime", should there be investigation if a crime was committed all? This all sounds like a made up story. 2am alone, masked men, unknown substance, ropes, downtown Chicago. Sounds far fetched. The guy is a good ACTOR. Think we are seeing this more often where baiters are trying to create news or to hide real circumstances. And don't say it don't happen. Several instances before the mid term elections.

two (2) days ago in Milwaukee Carlie Beaudin, a White 33 year old Nurse, was walking through a parking garage to her car when she was attacked by Kenneth Freeman, a Unemployed Black 27 year old Man. Surveillance video taken around 1am showed Kenneth Freeman knocking Carlie Beaudin down from behind, and then kicking and stomping on her head and neck at least 40 times. He then threw her body into the car, drove to a corner of the parking garage, and dumped her broken body in the snow. About 3 hours later a Snowplow driver found her bleeding and frozen to the ground, she was still alive, but her pulse was weak. She was taken to the hospital were she was pronounced dead at 4:21am. In a statement to authorities later, Kenneth Freeman said he “deliberately and purely murdered Ms. Willa.” The complaint does not explain Freeman’s comments.
If you're reading this, you already know why one of these stories got national coverage as a "hate crime", while the other never went beyond the local news and where the police are afraid to officially declare a motive for the murder despite the killer's own confession.
