Police kill wrong man at wrong house

I saw this on the news. Seems that even though the 911 dispatcher gave them the right address, they went to the wrong one late at night.

Seems that he opened the door, they saw a gun and shot him. His wife was awake and said that she didn't hear any warnings, just shots and then saw her husband laying on the ground.

Sorry, but when it comes to crap like this, the cops in question should be fired. In the military you wouldn't be able to get away with crap like this. You'd be kicked out. Police need to be accountable for their actions.
As a society we sure don't want to pay for professionalism and training, why, our taxes might go up since we won't defund militarily occupying the planet and deciding the governments of others.

We do pay for training, and that is part of the problem.

We imagine training is like it used to be, with police facing targets like in the old Hoogans Alley scenario. The cop would walk down the street, and targets would pop up or swing out and the cop would point the weapon, and fire if the target was a picture of someone holding a gun, and hold fire if the person was holding a shopping bag.

It isn't like that now. Now, it's all about the quick draw and fire. The FBI even has that as the new standard for qualification. How fast can you get your weapon out and firing? The argument is that those split seconds are precious, and the cop can't wait until he sees a weapon, if he does he's shot and killed.

This was actually filmed at the police range. It was the way the cops were trained to shoot. It was the way we trained the cops to shoot or don't shoot.

Notice the situation, seek cover to reload, identify the target, before you pulled the trigger. Now, that isn't the way it's done. Now, it's all about draw and fire. It is as if the police believe they are in a quick draw competition with Billy the Kid.

Notice the difference. It's about time it takes to get the shots off. Not in if the target needs to be shot, but how fast you can shoot. How fast can you shoot, reload, switch hands, and shoot some more? Well, if it isn't fast enough, then you fail.

When the Dirty Harry movie above was filmed, the police considered it an unjustified shooting if the baddie did not have a weapon. Then in the 1980's, those of us alive remember the stories of kids in apartment buildings playing games with toy guns who got shot. We were reasonable as a society, we said that we could understand how the police could mistake a toy, for a real gun. We excused it. We were starting down the slope to hell, and we did it for the best of reasons.

Then it was something that looked like a gun. A wallet, or similar item, if held just so, could be mistaken for a firearm. We as a society accepted this as a reasonable excuse. We allowed the standards for a "good shoot" to slide a little farther down the hill. Then it was a gun they could see, in the waist band or pocket of the baddie. Then it was where we find ourselves today.

If it is possible that he had a gun, or was going for this imaginary gun, it's completely justified to shoot the bugger. We justified our way into the hell we find ourselves in. All the time, the propaganda has it that the cops have a dangerous and dirty job, and we have to support them.

Now, it is nearly impossible to find anything a cop does to be wrong. A cop who off duty shoots his daughters black boyfriend is not convicted three times. Three times it's a hung jury. The aggressive action? The boyfriend saw the father approaching, and stood up and held out his hand, offering to shake the hand of the father of his girlfriend. He's dead now, and the cop is not in prison. He was afeared for his life, and that's all he has to say to get away with murder. Three hung juries. Three times that travesty has happened.

We were reasonable, and admitted there were exceptions. Now, the exception is not an exception, it's the rule. We do train them, we give the cops very expensive training, and it's the wrong lessons. More money for training isn't the answer. Changing the training to the old standards, no weapon visible, you don't shoot. No weapon on the baddie when you shoot him, you are in a lot of fucking trouble.

We have no standards for the use of force now, not like we did. We train the cops to that lack of standard. It's all about the quick draw. It's all about how fast you can shoot. If you aren't faster than Wild Bill Hickok, you are going to die is the lesson we are teaching our cops, and socieity, all of us, are paying the price for allowing this to happen.

Tamir Rice is a very good example; quick draw excellence on children. Coporate state Storm Troopers.

And for profit prisons must be full at all times to maximize profit.

You partisanshitheads keep on blaming each other.

No, we just blame you and your bullshit philosophy. A philosophy that has lead to the deaths of countless millions of people that you don't like. That's why you want to disarm us, so that you can work your murderous magic yet again. Your philosophy is based on death. That's a philosophy that truly is despicable.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, and they say the same shit about you. You're all wack. You're all alike.

No, the historians are pretty clear on who the progressives are. A more deplorable bunch of scumbags would be hard to find. In a little over 100 years, atheist progressives have managed to murder orders of magnitude more people than all of the religious wars over the last two thousand years.

Quite an accomplishment. Too bad it isn't a good one.
I'm well aware of your belief system, I just don't buy into your whole partisanshithead perceptual reality. Ya'll keep on blaming each other for everything though, that's how problems get "resolved" in america. Bwa ha ha ha ha ....

Once again for those of you with diminished capacity, we aren't blaming us, we're blaming YOU. You can parrot your little talking points all you wish, but the evidence is overwhelming that it is leftist violence that kills the most people. That is an inarguable fact. It is leftist policies that have led to police forces nationwide hiring people who are not suited to be police officers. It is leftist policies that have led to diminished training for those police officers which sets them up for failure, and which leads to tragedy's such as this.

That's not on us dudette. That's on YOU.
Blame is for those incapable of responsibility.

You can also blame the progressives for lowering hiring standards and emphasizing paperwork over tactical training. Add in a healthy dose of brass who will leave them out to dry if they make a legit mistake and the quality of people getting into law enforcement has dropped dramatically.
That's why nothing ever gets better in america. All blame, no responsibility, ever. WE refuse to pay both cops and teachers as they should be because WE refuse to pay for them in lieu of subsidizing billionares, corporate dicks and endless wars of empire.

Things were good in America. Then progressives got into positions of power and the decline began. If you look at the history of a country the decline always follows progressive take over of those governments. The two are inexorably entwined.

Make up your mind. Before you tried to argue that the cops behaved this way because we as a society were too cheap to pay for good training. I showed that to be absolutely nonsense. I showed the changes to police training to reflect the changing standards for a "good shoot" by police. The slippery road to hell.

Now, it's that partisans are in control of government. Well, make up your mind. We are responsible. Including me. I was alive, and approaching voting age when those tragic shootings happened in the 1980's. Where a child was shot, but there was a toy gun, and I agreed at that time, that the cop was reasonable in his assumption in that situation, to assume that the person before him was holding a gun, a real gun.

I was a little more ambivalent about the thing that sort of looked like a gun argument, but the slippery slope had already begun. By the time we got to he was moving his hand to go for a gun, or we thought he was, I could see it, because I'd lived through it.

Do you want to know what is really responsible for this mess we are in? The Presidential Election of 1988. The Democratic Candidate was Dukakis. Dukakis was a Governor from Massachusetts. During his time as Governor, he started a program of furlough's for convicts, the idea was to get the convicts used to life on the outside, give them hope for a life after prison, and most importantly, give them a taste of freedom so they would finish their prison terms, and start their lives over with a determination not to return to prison.

Then Willie Horton happened. Willie Horton was a lifer, he was never getting out of prison, and never should have been in the program to be furloughed. But someone screwed up, and he was. Dukakis did not approve every prisoner who got out for one weekend, it was handled several levels below him, but it came out during the primary thanks to Al Gore who wanted to be the nominee, and then really became an issue during the General.

Willie Horton got out on a furlough, and raped and assaulted a woman. This one action destroyed the program that had shown some success in reducing recidivism.

From that moment on, anyone who did not stand up and give full throated support to the police was soft on crime. Any politician who argued that we should restrain, or restrict the police, or look at ways to reform the justice system, was labeled soft on crime who wanted murderers and rapists running amok in our societies.

That election placed police on an unassailable pedestal. No one could challenge them, no one could argue that they needed more restraints. They became untouchable. Systemic problems became the actions of a few bad apples. Even when the evidence showed it was clearly a systemic problem, it is still downplayed by everyone as a few bad apples.

No one can stand up to the Blue Line of power. No one survives if they argue for reforms. No one can say that the police who are out of control, are out of control. Half of the people killed by police in Georgia were shot in the back, or unarmed. Yet, every single shooting is justified by the cops who are investigating the cops.

Our system of Government was designed to prevent corruption and abuse of power by the checks and balances approach. Three equal branches of government each with power, limited by the power of the others. A tripod that held our nation aloft. If one got too powerful, too long, the tripod would fall.

The entire premise behind our nation was the idea that you must question authority. That is why we have Freedom of Speech, and Freedom of the Press in the bill of rights.

We as voters have a responsibility we have been failing at. We keep electing the same idiots even when they are not doing a good job. Don't just point at Nancy Pelosi, but look at your own district. How many times has your congressman been re-elected? Most of the congress critters have spent enough time in Washington to qualify for retirement benefits from any real job they may have held.

When we elect them, we are supposed to keep their feet to the fire, and when they aren't doing a good job, we're supposed to fire them and elect someone else. Well, that doesn't happen, because people in San Francisco would rather eat a raw turd than vote Republican. People in Alabama would rather slam their hand in a car door every day for a year than vote for a damned democrat.

So we keep sending the same idiots to Washington, or the state house. Because we don't care about issues, and we're ignorant of what our congress critters are actually doing. I know. I live in Georgia. And we keep sending Hank Johnson to Washington despite his history of asking asinine questions like has the navy considered the danger of Guam, and island, tipping over and sinking.

As a society we sure don't want to pay for professionalism and training, why, our taxes might go up since we won't defund militarily occupying the planet and deciding the governments of others.

And for those who are actually responsible of course. Don't forget to include them.

"So we keep sending the same idiots to Washington, or the state house. Because we don't care about issues, and we're ignorant of what our congress critters are actually doing."

Yup, ya do, and the donor class has it covered "either" way.

Now, it's the donors who are to blame. I'll give you credit. You know things are fucked up. You're not sure what is fucked up or why, but you are at least aware that they are.

Luckily america has you posting on usmessageboards. Carry on my neoliberal corporatist friend

As a society we sure don't want to pay for professionalism and training, why, our taxes might go up since we won't defund militarily occupying the planet and deciding the governments of others.

You can also blame the progressives for lowering hiring standards and emphasizing paperwork over tactical training. Add in a healthy dose of brass who will leave them out to dry if they make a legit mistake and the quality of people getting into law enforcement has dropped dramatically.

Indeed. And those partisanshitheads were mainly of the progressive group. Progressives have been trying to undermine this country for decades, and thanks to people like you, they will eventually succeed.
You all sound alike to me.

Look in the mirror pal.

If it's your turn to go, it's your turn. Like the lady driving to the store who had the tree blow over onto her car and kill her. So you're sitting in your living room watching tv and there comes a knock on the door and the cops bust in and shoot you dead, even though they really wanted your neighbor. It's your turn.

Maybe you should let an investigation take place

That's the same thing you said when the Australian chick got "airholed".

And by same thing I mean exactly the opposite.

That is the same sort of reasoning that allowed the Soviets to imprison, and murder tens of millions of people. I suggest you read The Gulag Archipelago to see how that came about. It is a very compelling book.

Oferchrissakes. I just couldn't get outraged this morning. If I had, you'd be jawin at me for that, too. I promise if Trump tries to start imprisoning Democrats, I'll join the resistance and get myself tortured and killed. Feel better now?

Acceptance of injustice is the first necessary step for tyranny to prevail. You do so at your peril.

No, they should be publicly crucified, left until their bones fall apart.

Mississippi police shoot man dead after arriving at wrong house

Families of the victim are suing, I don't know if much will come out of it.

There was no reason to kill even if he was the right person they had a warrant for.

And these are the only people who the progressives think should be armed. The lawsuit will probably be settled out of court, but the officers involved should be tried for murder.
Murder one, they should be publicly tortured to death.

Hope the family has the sense to skip town.
