On the big blue marble
I at first intended to post this article in my thread, "Bad Cop, No Donut", but instead decided it is of so much importance it needs it's own thread. The divide between the public and the police is growing wider. Trust of the police by the public is at an all time low. This is solely the fault of the police. The "few bad apples" lie has lost it's effect. If their are "good cops" and they aren't doing anything about the "bad cops", that makes them "bad cops" as well. The "Blue Brotherhood" and the "thin blue line" should not exist where those championed with the welfare of the people are concerned; when you separate yourselves from us, you have done yourselves and us a grave disservice. If you, as a cop, really want to help society, the first thing you need to do is cut through the "thin blue line", remove yourself from the "Blue Brotherhood" and join the Brotherhood of Man.

Police Brutality and Abuse is no Longer the Exception, It is the Norm

Not a day goes by without news of another case of police brutality or the abuse of power by officers, which begs the question: is this the new norm? There was a time when it was not so common to hear about abuse by the police, let alone see actual footage of the abuse taking place. But now in this age of technology, camera phones, video cameras and even squad car dash cams have made it possible for the general public to have access to the rampant abuse of power by law enforcement. As police brutality becomes more commonplace one is left to wonder if the public can ever really feel safe and protected by the very ones supposedly charged with that duty.

It was always the norm. The difference now is that there are fewer people in denial because of the recordings. Fewer, but certainly not a majority even with all the evidence out there.

i hope trump does not continue the para military making of the police force...even in small rural areas police are abusing their power....its just sad..and worse they get rewarded for it

I think the police are just being trained wrong.

They need to stop shooting arrestees more than once or twice at a time, without pausing to let the perp give himself up.

Eight to 11 times such as was the case with Darren Wilson and Michael Brown is not in self defense it is an execution.

This is a training issue not an equipment issue.

Some of the team bank robberies require sophisticated military equipment in response.

They are trained to go home in the evening. Charge a cop and you need to be stopped. You fill them with lead until the threat is gone. Don't blame the cop, you have many other options in life.

Most folks have no problem with police. Others have nothing but problems. Sooooo the problem is the police? Does not compute.

It would "compute" if you took the time to logically analyze it.

Those who "have no problem with police" are usually those who have little interaction with the police. In certain locations (such as neighborhoods where judges and lawyers live) police are instructed to have ''minimal contact''. In working class and ghetto type neighborhoods, police are instructed to have ''maximum contact''. A cop does not stop a judges wife while she is strolling through her neighborhood and demand identification and run checks on her. A cop will stop a person walking through that same neighborhood who the cop thinks "looks like they don't belong" and put them through all kinds of questioning, pat downs, etc. Alabama police officer arrested after Indian grandfather left partially paralyzed

That was quite a reach around. Fact is most people aren't having problems and don't live with lawyer and judges neighbors. We just know how to act civilized.

Everybody wants to go home in the evening. More than 1100 people were killed by police last year who wanted to go home in the evening.

And if a cop charges you when you have done nothing wrong? Do you have the right to "fill them with lead"?

The paralyzed man in my previous posts link was acting civilized. How do you justify that cops actions?

It'll be the 'norm" till the new DoJ (5 days}. Then they'll go back to enforcing the law.

No they won't. It will get worse. Sessions has already said he is ending the compliance actions that require police departments found to be routinely violating civil rights to enact changes and additional training under supervision of the DOJ.

I can't tell you how often I've worried about someone running away from me. Half the people shot by police were either unarmed or shot in the back in Georgia. But who cares how many of them die so long as your gang members go home at night.

DoJ's war on cops is over. The times they are achangin'.

You know one of the biggest compliance actions was under Bush. The LASD was found to have 100 violations of the Constitution in their policies. Why do you support violations of the Constitution and why should the cops be above the law?

It's over kid. In a few days the race pimps are out. Elections have consequences

People that are blind like you? That refuse to see their unconstitutional seizure without due process.....Yeah, you support unconstitutional practices...

Witnesses need to be called. It will not happen through our criminal justice system. The Church is the only feasible alternative. After all, we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses.
