You're deflecting. That's not what he addressed. DO the banks own our asses? Yes.

Try going big picture.

Who owns the banks?

The government owns the banks today, the better question is "who owns the Federal Reserve"?

If I didn't have the experience of working for a man who started off borrowing $50K and working tirelessly to build his company so that he's now on Forbes 400 I might be only slightly more inclined to buy into these notions about "the rich"

The people who started Google and Facebook are all the "rich" today yet 15 years ago no one could pick them out of a police lineup.

Yes, rich people have influence and don't care about unemployment of $4/gallon gas. Big fucking surprise.

The best thing that could ever happen to this country would be ending personal income tax

Y'think?

How about reforming the government? How about checks and balances to taxes and/or welfare? Welfare has its place. There ARE people who NEED it.

Going to watch them starve in the street?

The problem is getting rid of the abusers who use the system to suck off our tax dollars.

I'm okay with taxation WITH representation. I'm not okay with taxation with representation by people who didn't even win but the elite put them in office anyway.

Accountability.

I agree. And we were better as a nation of communities rather than a nation ruled by million of pages of rules and regulations from Washington DC.

I went to public school in the Bronx at a time when the Principal de facto OWNED the school, you did not fuck with that lady. Those times are gone with doctors making house calls and the reason is the same: the government stepped in.

The government became the patient paying the bills and setting the standards for care so my Doctor stopped making house calls and the government took control of the schools so now kids have no idea which end is up.

We should teach kids how rich people get that way, it should be taught starting in grade school.

I've always held we are a blended economy. One that allows for both prosperity and social safety nets. Capitalism drives the bus, socialism picks up the loose ends.

True; except, what REALLY drives the bus are the extremes at both ends. Those are the poster children used by both sides to accuse the other.

Get rid of the abuses as BOTH ends and you end up in the middle. A moderate. Some people just don't have souls.

Okay. If you are going to make this argument, you would have to have a list of the stockholders of Citibank, and their respective political affiliations. If the majority stockholder is on the right at 51%, and the minority 49% left, it's a wash politically.

We're a nation of power and money, and BOTH hands are dirty.

I'll just repeat my stance from the last Presidential election .... Republican'ts doing nothing is better than Democraps doing something that screws everything up.

Sad but true.

Most people with an IQ over room temperature agree with you on that. The really sad part is that, instead of coming together to solve that situation, we bicker about shit. Which is exactly what both sides want, so that they can continue to rob us all.

The political parties do that intentionally. Yet, we, the people, don't get it. To many "we, the people" are lemmings and follow one side or the other.

Yea, they do. And they are abetted by the media, and they do it for money. How many politicians retire with millions more than they had when they started? And how do they manage to acquire such vast sums?

Power corrupts. That is the problem with our political system. I am sure that some politicians start off with noble intentions - it is the system that corrupts them. Until we address that, we will continue getting crapped on. But, the media ensure that - instead of focusing on the real issues - we bicker about ridiculous shit.

Thanks, Gunny. I am just quoting Citibank and the WSJ and their own characterizations of a national economy that is increasingly driven by the slimmest minority of it's pop.

Focusing on real issues? Notice how the board pundits have avoided this thread? They just create their own delusional bullshit threads and pretend this one doesn't exist.

Why? Because the people that can actually think occupy it. They need drone threads. The ones that all sound like "Blah blah ...buh blah blah blah ..." Please ...vote for the (D) or (R) just because ....

Losers.

Get out of this thread, idiot. Intelligent people are talking here. That doesn't include YOU. I've got already used charcoal more intelligent than your dumb ass.

It's a New Year. I'm all about freedom of speech. But not for retards. Shut your fucking suck or you're gone.

Happy New Year. Bitch.

Quite a few posters on this board are mindless drones. If someone starts a debate that does not come from the media, they can't cope. Ask them to think critically and provide their own reasoning and they run. Yet, they expect others to take them seriously when they link to some fucking idiotic article as 'evidence'. Mindless fucking sheep. It sickens me how few people are capable of actually researching a subject and forming their own opinion. And it is equally prevalent on both sides - a bipartisan failure of intellect.

If I was two faced, I can assure you I wouldn't be wearing this one.

Truthdon'tmatter, you are one of the idiots that I refer to. You show no ability to think for yourself. You get your opinions from mediamatters. Therefore, your IQ is below the level required to discuss anything other than ranting about 'the right', 'you people', and other mindless shit.

I have, not once, 'defended' any side - I defend policies not politicians. I defend intelligent responses to the issues that this country faces. The problem I have is that those issues are not often discussed on this board. There is no room for actual debate here. That you don't know that just confirms your rank as one of the stupidest posters on the board.

I'm actually waiting for all the pussies on this board to address loosecannon's OP. And FYI, he and I flamed each other or the most part of year. I still respect his opinion because he can back it.

Unlike the mindless rhetoric dished out around here. I don't agree with LC a LOT. But at least he can make an argument unlike a "few" people around here.

Who are these people with all this control of our countries government?

They must be the poor because they have so many ways to effect our system.

Or is it the Middle class who are holding the poor and the wealthy hostage to their whimms?

Look people there is only one set of people in this world who weild this power.

ITS the Uber wealthy who you asswinks defend at every turn like they are our Gods.

It is so bizzare to try and follow you silly peoples mind set.

The wealthy OWN our government in increasing amounts and you fools defend them every day all day and call anyone who points out their power over our system class warriors.

How can you people hold these two opposing views?

Actually, in many ways, I agree. Where we diverge, and what separates conservatives from 'liberals', is how we achieve those 'safety nets'. 'Liberals' see it as a Government responsibility. Conservatives see it as our collective responsibility but not one that is best solved by Government. We say that charity is the best way to help people. Local solutions to local problems and not a one size fits all fix imposed by DC. Those solutions don't solve anything - they create more problems, require more and more money and we all suffer because of the few who need help.

Actually would it not be better to describe the USA as being controlled by a government that has progressively moved further from the constitution and values of our constitution.

Each successive generation of Politicians add rules, laws, mandates, bureaucracy.

I think its a bit misleading to state we are ruled by a minority of the rich.

We are ruled by the progressive agenda that has infected our Republic.

Yes the rich have a tremendous amount of power, but that is built over many years of a law here, a law there, until the whole government is one out of control mess.

This is not capitalism at work.

Really ... you would, huh?

Which war have we NOT fought for the rich over power and money? Please start with the American Revolution where poor colonists fought for the right of wealthy colonists to not pay taxes to our King and proceed .....

How do you come up with a question such as that to my post.

If you want to talk about the Revolution and why it was fought I will but first I would like to know a bit of why you respond with war to what I state.

How does the increasingly poor population feed each other when the increasingly smaller percent hold all the wealth?

You people HATE government when it is te ONLY fucking way the masses can proitect themselves from the uner wealthys control of so much of their lives.

Do you people even understand WHY the founders no longer wanted to be British?

It's a massive, and incredibly complex subject. Good topic but I wonder how many on here are knowledgeable enough to discuss it rationally. I've touched on it in some articles I've written - it's hard shit.

So, you're not actually capable of discussing the topic. Thanks, that's good to know... not that many of us hadn't worked that out already. Idiot.

Cut the crap marxists. In the greatest Country on earth the people control the economy by hiring and firing representatives in government. It wasn't Pluto that fired 60 democrats last November, it was the people of the United States. The never ending whining about corporations and decadent capitalism doesn't cut it.
