Plotting Attacks To Disrupt Nov. Poll: US

And lots of republicans can't tie their shoes but we haven't outlawed sneakers. ;)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A senior House Democratic lawmaker was skeptical on Sunday of a Bush administration idea to obtain the authority to delay the November presidential election in case of an attack by al Qaeda,

U.S. counterterrorism officials are looking at an emergency proposal on the legal steps needed to postpone the presidential election in case of such an attack, Newsweek reported on Sunday.

"I think it's excessive based on what we know," said Rep. Jane Harman of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, in a interview on CNN's "Late Edition."

Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge warned last week that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network want to attack within the United States to try to disrupt the election.

Harman said Ridge's threat warning "was a bust" because it was based on old information.

Newsweek cited unnamed sources who told it that the Department of Homeland Security asked the Justice Department last week to review what legal steps would be needed to delay the vote if an attack occurred on the day before or on election day.</blockquote>

Actually, Dubbyuh's just looking for an excuse. If elections in November should be postponed for any reason, America will never again have free elections.

After all, if Spain has the cojones to continue with their elections after the subway attacks, we can continue with ours after a similar event.

Why in the hell would terrorists want to waste a perfectly good bomb when we can disrupt our own elections and did so only 4 years ago? Do you think we forgot how to do it? If Bush wins the electoral vote, the Dems will claim fraud. If Kerry is elected, the Reps will cry fraud. Unless by some miracle, one of them wins by a landslide, we will probably have a national crisis while the lawyers battle it out .

The terrorist win without firing a shot !

somebody has been playing with the story. From what I heard on CNN (can you get any more left?) that the Bush administration had asked for a LEGAL BRIEF ON OPINIONS (notice, plural as in more than one opinion) into what should be done, IF ANYTHING, should something happen on election day.

See, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't, so they aer covering their arses now getting their briefs and opinions in place so they can make the proper decision if necessary. If they didn't do this and something happened, they would be blamed for not being prepared. If the democrats lose on election day AND something happens a day or two before or even on election day, no matter what Bush would do - letting the election go forward or not - the democrats would cry foul!

Bully, you like to portray yourself as the intellectually honest one on this board. So why not own up to what I am saying as being true?

Once again incorrect........all the news organizations (yes all the liberal ones) did several of their own recounts and YES it is true Bush still had more votes.......He was elected!! Iknow that is hard for Dems to beleive but it is true and now maybe they need to move one to something else............... :baby:
