Petition Text: In the Spirit of Democracy, Independence and Authentic Progressivism, the People of the United States remain to be skeptical on America's Future. There have been program initiatives for many years to better our children's circumstances from the tyranny of the Teachers' Unions. In all disrespect, We the People are frustrated with these program initiatives because quite frankly, they do not work. There have been an increase of funding towards this system but it failed to improve our circumstance as well, this is due to the nature of the contracts by the Teachers' Unions. Greed. We the People hereby petition the Obama Administration to take full initiative in eliminating such unions from this public service, namely "Public Education".

Why?
- Public Education is a Public Service Career.
- Public Education Receives Thousands to Millions of Dollars on a Monthly Basis.
- Program Initiatives like "Race to the Top" or "No Child Left Behind" Don't Work.
- Teachers' Benefits are Extraodinary Because It's State (Federal) Owned.

Where has education ever been made better by paying teachers less and making their jobs a less attractive career choice?
Reason one is irrelevant. Reason two is irrelevant and seems to be way too low (the US spends billions, not thousands or millions on public education every month). Reasons three and four are highly debatable (for example, private school teachers seem to receive more overall compensation than public school teachers, so it's not clear in what way public teachers' benefits are "[E]xtraordinary").
I hope you realize there are reasons other than your non-celebrity that people are declining to sign your petition.
Don't respond to this thread, again, I don't want fake liberals posting in this thread.
you are insane if you think you have the power to demand that.

That's easy to answer, look at Americas grade averages compared to the rest of the world, the bigger the unions have gotten the worst off our children have gotten.

So the legal right to strike automatically equates blackmail in your mind, ehh? Maybe you should do a little honest research as to WHY unions go on strike? PATCO, despite it's contractual agreement not to strike, did so to draw attention to the FACT that the owners and managers of the PRIVATE industry that receives FEDERAL subsidy (the airline industry), WERE NOT ADDRESSING ISSUES THAT PUT THE GENERAL POPULATION AT RISK. So good old Ronnie Raygun busts the unions, and let's the airline management off the hook....and in the 30 years hence you've had news reports about problems with traffic controllers, airplane repair.....all the stuff that PATCO wanted to be addressed. So much for your nonsense about "blackmail"
Public employees do not have a "right" to unionize. Learn facts and the law, please. That privilege should never have been granted in the first place by an idiot mayor of my city...
Newsflash for ya, sweet cheeks.....COPS are "public employees" and they have the RIGHT to UNIONIZE. It was that way before you and I were born. So next time PLEASE get up to speed on FACTS before your fingers hit the keys...makes you look less of a joke of a "rhodes scholar".
Teachers' unions go on strike when the state and federal gov't want to pull funding from school districts that leave the teachers holding the bag with regards to supplies, new equipment and class size.
You are fucking beyond clueless. If you believe this BS above, I can see why the far left has been losing massive support in this country for 40 years.
Translation: this buffoonish "rhodes scholar" cannot logically or factually disprove or refute what I wrote, so she just hurls insults in vain. What a pathetic "rhodes scholar" she is.
Teacher's are controlled by the input of the parents....so if the parents want them gone THEY must get involved with the PTA, the school board, their local politicians.
Like in CT, where the fucking scumbag whore Weingarten made certain to keep parents out of the decision making process?
Really? And of course you have documented proof to back up this claim beyond your incessant supposition and conjecture or opinion based on willful ignorance? If not, go blow smoke somewhere else!COLOR]
Scapegoating teacher unions is an old tactic
For the 100th time idiot, I support private sector unions - but there is NO JUSTIFICATION WHATSOEVER for public employee unions - NONE.
You are a "100th time idiot", my faux rhodes scholar...because the LAWS for unions in the public and private sector have existed before your dopey ass saw the light of day....the justification being the history of abuse of workers and employees in America. Now, if you're so inclined to swallow the half assed revisionist bilge of the likes of Limbaugh and Kristoll, that's your problem. The rational folk will just do the honest homework of American history to see what incredibly dense "rhodes scholar" you truly are.
That you and every other leftist poster here refuses to acknowledge the systemic theft and corruption of allowing politicians to decide on providing ever-more generous contracts for people under them who can vote them in office is proof positive that the far left's opinion on this issue is DOA -- zero credibility, zilch.
Let me get this straight
- Republicans have the right to organize even though the Bush Administration got America involved in 2 foreign wars and drove the nation to the financial brink of disaster
- the Tea Party has the right to organize
- "birthers" have the right to organize
- the National Rifle Association has the right to organize
- police, fireman, doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, farmers, retirees, banks, oil companies, tobacco companies, alcohol producers, casinos .....
BUT
public school teachers are being singled out as the one group that should not be allowed to organize!
NO. They loathe those that seek to limit freedom/liberty by thier actions that cause the so-called middle class to suffer.Dont get me wrong here. One poster said he loathes unions. I can use that word also. This is a fact. The GOP loathes the middle class. Try to argue this one. Cant, can you? SPineless cowards.
There ARE no classes. You're an American limited only by your imagination...and those that seek to squelch it...
Get your facts straight.
If there are no classes in America, why does the average millionaire/billionaire pay a far lower % of his/her income in taxes than the average receptionist, secretary, cleaning lady or unionized teacher? According to a IRS report, approximately 1,500 US millionaires/billionaires paid no federal income tax at all in 2009.It's class warfare, my class is winning, but they shouldn't be.
- Warren Buffett, CNN Interview, May 25 2005, in arguing the need to raise taxes on the rich.
There's class warfare, all right, but it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning.
- Warren Buffett, New York Times, November 26, 2006.
The 400 of us pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you're in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.
- Warren Buffett, speaking at a $4,600-a-seat political fundraiser in New York, as quoted in "Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary", Times Online, June 28, 2007
