Perry continues to lead Romney

Perry's number have come down a fair amount. He was polling at 38% two weeks ago. That's not surprising, given that it was expected there would be a surge from the excitement from his initial announcement, followed by a decline.

There have been a series of polls with and without Palin included. Generally, Perry's numbers have dropped by 8-10% when Palin has been included, implying that Palin's supporters are supporting Perry when Palin is not in the race. However, this was the first poll without Palin showing Perry at the lowest number yet since he entered the race. It could be an outlier, however.

Romney has to be concerned, given that he can't crack the ~20% level.

Perry isn't losing ground against the other candidates...there are more undecided's in this poll.

The other polls don't give "as yet undecided" as an option...only "not sure"

In this poll 22% answer undecided...where in the other polls, only 2 to 10 percent answer not sure.

In the poll you are referring to only 5% answered "not sure".

That says to me that when pressured, the undecided's overwhelmingly break for Perry. (<----my opinion)

Good point.

Here's another recent poll.

26 Rick Perry
22 Mitt Romney
9 Michele Bachmann
8 Sarah Palin
8 Ron Paul
4 Herman Cain
4 Newt Gingrich
2 Rick Santorum
1 Jon Huntsman
6 None of these
10 Not sure
http://media.bloomberg.com/bb/avfile/rE6BuEG98dFM

You can see that Perry has come down from that ~35% level nonetheless. But this poll includes Palin, who drags down Perry in the polls.

That Bloomberg poll covers the same time period as the CNN and PPP polls.

They have Perry at 30/31 and Romney at 18/18.

Bloomberg is the outlier.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep.../republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html

Plus the CNN poll has Palin at 15.

And there is not a chance at 71% disapproval that Palin is jumping into this race, so most of that is going to break for Perry.

The poll I posted in the OP is the first since the CNN/Tea Party Express Debate.

Even taking punches from all sides, Perry is still going strong.

Romney is stagnant.

How is Rick Perry going to create jobs, do you know?? Cause none else does.

Perry has created more job for the loan star state than Obama has for the country.

Ron Paul will create jobs by immeadiatly bringing home all the troops from around the world. Instead of dumping money into everyone elses economy dont you think its time to start taking care of America??

He will use the troops to secure the borders, what a crazy idea??? How will Rick Perry do it?? Waste millions of dollars on a fence??? No worry, that fence has 0 probability of actually happening, just campain rhetoric.

Ron Paul is a dangerous traitor, who has absolutely no shot at POTUS, and who nobody takes seriously.

All Ron Paul is selling is his cynicism of governments role, its his answer to everything, he doesn't understand the world, and he doesn't have a pragmatic bone in his body.

In the first poll out since the second debate...Perry continues to lead by a wide margin.

Republicans are also more enthusiastic than Democrats about voting in 2012, a reversal from 2008.

CBS News / NY Times poll released yesterday:

Perry..............23
Romney..........16
Bachmann........7
Gingrich...........7
Cain................5
Paul................5
Huntsman.........1
Santorum.........1
Undecided......22
Palin was not included in the poll as a candidate, but the question was asked "Is your opinion of Sarah Palin favorable, not favorable, undecided, or haven't you heard enough about Sarah Palin yet to have an opinion?"

For the first time in CBS News Polls, more Republicans now view Palin unfavorably (39%) than favorably (36%). Opinions are similar among Republican primary voters.

Also, "Half of primary voters who pick a candidate for the nomination say they like their candidate but have reservations about him or her. Six in 10 Perry and Romney supporters say they have reservations about their candidate. And Romney’s support is somewhat weaker than Perry’s – just 25% of Romney’s supporters strongly favor him, compared to 33% of Perry’s."

A lot more interesting data in the poll results, I encourage you all to read the entire commentary here in pdf: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/2011/NYT_CBS_Republicans_0916.pdf

Not so fast, keep in mind that this is just a Republican poll, Romney matches up beating Obama when you consider the independent vote and conservative Democrat vote, in fact, Perry is losing in the polls when matched up against Obama.

I am supporting the candidate that can go the distance and that's Mitt Romney. Keep in mind the Presidential race in not a horse race there are no second and third place prizes. Perry is sinking in the polls after the latest debate, on his support for tuition for illegal immigrants, his stance on SSI, and the executive order for vacinations for HPV. He also does not support a border fence. Illegal immigration is a huge problem for him even with Republicans.

Mitt Romney knows how to create jobs, it took me 4 hours just to read his plan. Perry has been dealt 4 aces with a state that has always done well with drilling, keeping taxes low, no state income tax etc. Mitt stated, being dealt 4 aces does not mean you are a neccessarily good poker player, I agree.

Government doesnt create jobs. But it does destroy them. Obama has destroyed millions of jobs through his tax and regulatory schemes.
Businesses create jobs when they can work without an ever-shifting landscape of regs and taxes. That is what happened in Texas. Perry did not destroy jobs by introducing "millionaire" taxes and strict regs. That's all he needs to do as POTUS.

To be fair, if anyone other than Obama wins, jobs will be created. Business are on strike, protesting Obama.

He will repeal Obamacare, which everyone else will do, but that's going to kick-start job growth immensely.

De-regulation in general. He's also going to try and repeal dodd frank.

Drilling, even though it not labor intensive, our energy policy is linked to investing.

Cut corporate taxes, while cloosing loopholes, which will make business more competative.

The one is for all the silly people who actually think Rick Perry is the best choice.

Q: How do you plan on returning manufacturing jobs to the US?

RON PAUL: Pretty important because everything we've done in the last 20 or 30 years we've exported our jobs. And when you have a reserve currency of the world and you abuse it, you export money. That becomes the main export so [jobs] go with the money. The way you get capital into a country, you have to have a strong currency. Today it's a deliberate job of the Federal Reserve to weaken the currency. We should invite capital back.

We have at least a trillion dollars of US money made overseas, but it stays over there because if you bring it home, you get taxed. We need to get the Fed to quit printing the money and if we have to entice those individuals to repatriate their money, deregulate and de-tax to invite people to go back to work again.

As long as we run a program of deliberately weakening our currency, our jobs will go overseas, and that is what's happened for a good many years, especially in the last decade.

Q: Are unions good for America?

A: The right to unionize should be a basic right of any group. You should be able to organize. You should have no privileges, no special benefits legislated to benefit the unions, but you should never deny any working group to organize and negotiate for the best set of standards of working conditions.

Voted YES on zero-funding OSHA's Ergonomics Rules instead of $4.5B.
Vote to pass a resolution to give no enforcement authority or power to ergonomics rules submitted by the Labor Department during the Clinton Administration. These rules would force businesses to take steps to prevent work-related repetitive stress disorders.

Mandated wages & unions hurt unprotected workers
Minimum wage laws & mandating union contracts (closed shop) are designed to help a small segment of workers gain economic advantage while actually hurting unprotected workers. Long term, even the beneficiaries suffer from the unemployment that excessive wage demands bring about. High wages are great, but if there are no jobs they become meaningless. In a free society with free markets, workers should always negotiate for the highest wage, while businesses should always strive for maximum profits. And if left to the market, the consumer will decide which businesses thrive, and wages must go up, not because of coercive legislation but because under the circumstances there would be competition by businesses to seek out the best workers and reward them with the best wages. Coerced union wages and dictated minimum wages grossly distort the market process and contribute to the malinvestment initiated by the Federal Reserve policy and guarantee that in the correction, wages must come down.

Presidential candidate and Tea Party Godfather Rep. Ron Paul is among a group of six Members of the House of Representatives that released a letter Thursday calling for a reduction in U.S. military spending by scaling back U.S. military commitments and reconfiguring the country’s military posture abroad.

Although bipartisan negotiations on deficit reduction between Vice President Biden and a group bicameral legislators continue, Paul, who announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President May 13, says that Congress “cannot be serious about reining in federal government spending if we take the military budget off the table.”

“We must focus our resources on defending the United States rather than on building and maintaining an unsustainable trillion dollar empire overseas,” Paul, R-Texas, said.

Now where is Perry's plan????

Perry said he wants boots on the ground, technology in the air and no fence.

You obviously aren't paying attention.

Ron Paul sounds crazier and crazier every time I hear him. The above post is a great example if he actually said those things. Half of them weren't even responsive to the question.

So... he is going to 'deregulate'.
What is he going to deregulate?

And how the fuck is closing tax loopholes, labor policy, investing in energy going to create god damned jobs???? The question is how is RICKY going to create jobs??

Shouldnt he have more then just one stratagy for creating jobs?????

Yes you got me there. RICK PERRY supposed Democrat, oh wait then Republican wants to get tons of federal dollars for planes, technology, personell and god knows what else to protect the border. Sounds like a plan to grow border patrol to the size of the NSA.

This is the GOP's fiscally responsable, conservative option from Obama. This is taking stupid to a whole new level.

How is RICKY going to create jobs Missourian???

I think that man's name is Texas Governor Rick Perry, warts and all. :D

Why should we know?

This great governor of Texas has created a climate so beneficial to business that 1,000 people enter Texas from other states right now, all to find jobs so they can enjoy the American dream with their families.

His team has the distinction of having not only more jobs available in Texas than any other state, as many people took jobs in the Lone Star State as all the other 49 states combined.

Do you get the drift? Obama's bumble-buns who basically hate Texas with a purple passion could do nothing except shut down the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico in a vain attempt to put down Texas for going Republican. It flat out didn't work.

Rick Perry rules
!!! :D

Because Perry is the most likely person to light America's job fires when he is elected POTUS.

Obama is putting up this little girlie squeal about how Perry owes him for all the jobs in Texas. That's flat out stupid stuff, considering the planning with which it took to eliminate drilling in the Gulf of Mexico his first year in office and refusing to cooperate with any alternative production of oil and gas in America, which has led to a tripling of the price of gas at the pump.

Obama's plan was to raise prices of gasoline in order to reduce its consumption. His cognition is divorced from the realm that poor people live in, while the press goes bloviating how he's their friend.

Instead, Obama destroyed the tourist industry in the United States with particular harm to areas in which America has National Parks, many of which are down by more than half in visitation, if not a small fraction of what was before.

People depend on oil and gas for having tourist dollars come into their areas from Americans who love car travel to visit other states.

I think I am tired of the way Obama has smugly dismissed two industries and people who have pain at the pump.

The man is deleterious to job formation, and he needs to be ushered out of power while we give the nation's hurting needs to someone who has a modicum of success at seeing to it his state offers jobs to people who want and need them.

The key is to use technology, if we're ever going to don it.

Ron Paul is a burnt crispy peice of toast after his statement in blaming America for 9-11, it won't happen, that add will be run 24/7 and he gave it to them. That what was Bin Lauden trumpeted and there is absolutely no truth to it what-so-ever and it reallly pisses off the American people, no matter your party affiliation. He's done, finished, ca-poot. Get over it and move on, the guy does not have a snow ball's chance in hell of winning anything.

Hey I made a new thread for RICK PERRY JOB PLAN. But I gotta say, I asked you about Rick Perrys job plan, not Obama plan. Its easy to point at someone else and say they suck, but does he have anything to offer?

And the reason we SHOULD KNOW, is cause our FUTURE is our CHOICES. and not asking questions is how we got into this. I like what little freedom I have left, and I am not looking forward to economic collapse, which is what we are headed towards, incase you cant see the prices rising all around you.

Rick Perry supports government suprise searches of the homes of the poor. He has disdain for the constitution and rule of law. Like Bush he considers them 'just paper'
