It seems that in the republicans efforts to rush through this tax bill and literally making last minute changes by hand in the column of the bill, they have made a "slight" mistake that is going to piss off the business community.

It appears that Senate Republicans managed to make a $289 billion or so mistake while furiously hand-scribbling edits onto the tax bill they passed in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The problem involves the corporate alternative minimum tax, which the GOP initially planned to repeal, but tossed back into their stew at the last second in order to raise some desperately needed revenue. The AMT is basically a parallel tax code meant to prevent companies from zeroing out their IRS bills. It doesn’t allow businesses to take as many tax breaks but, in theory, is also supposed to have a lower rate.

Except not under the Senate bill. When Mitch McConnell & Co. revived the AMT, they absentmindedly left it at its current rate of 20 percent, the same as the new, lower rate of the corporate income tax that the bill included. As a result, many companies won’t be able to use tax breaks that were supposed to be preserved in the legislation, including the extremely popular credit for research and development costs.

did they make a mistake, or does it appear they did? I love this shit. We never get facts from the left.

I'm beginning to think that the RWnuts weren't really upset when they kept complaining that Obamacare was being rammed through, as they put it.

Apparently they find ramming through to be perfectly acceptable.

Of course they don't care about having standards. The only thing you can count on with Republicans is that they will change their stance on an issue the second it favors them.

I seem to recall that they called it 'tyranny', lol, among other things when Obamacare passed with only Democrat support;
I haven't heard that description from them about the tax bill.

They're 99.9% partisan phonies.

well yes it is isn't it? Yours is failing.

For the people with at least 2 working brain cells, this error is going to obviously force a change and potentially a revote. That would give more time for review and analysis to come out which we know Republicans don't want to face. Seems like a pretty costly mistake politically.

It wont force anything of the sort, because both chambers are still hashing out the final bill that has to pass both chambers anyway as a complete bill.

Do you have even a basic understanding of how our legislative process works?

For those that only trust one news source.

Passage of Senate Tax Bill Puts R&D Tax Credit in Doubt -- Update

What will your next deflection be?
in doubt. again, nothing factual.

Are you actually retarded? Just let me know because it would clear a lot of this up for me.
I thinks it is disgraceful to use the word retarded like it's a bad thing. how white of you.

So is that a yes? If so, I'll remember that for next time when you respond to my posts. I'll be sure to encourage your participation and be as reaffirming as possible.

Good for you Champ!

You have to pass it in order to know what is inside it.

None at all. Explain it to me.

We've seen the first part, each chamber passes it own version of the tax changes. they then appoint people to create a "joint" bill that is then sent back to both houses for vote again.

The way it works the "joint" bill can have new stuff in it, or changes, or stuff removed, it doesn't matter because everyone has to vote on it again.
