Hundreds line up in Darby for hurricane relief forms - delcotimes.com

Im ashamed to live anywhere near here. But the mentality is insane. People from out of the town were coming because they were told they were going to get "free money" for disaster relief. Problem is the hurricane didn't effect they area much at all. The police had to be called in because there were so many people and they were worried about mobs.

It's just not right.

Got to love the entitlement mentality.

Free money, come and get it.

From the article

About 600 to 700 people lined up from the office, located at Mill and Main streets, all the way to the intersection of Main and Ninth streets, arriving as early as 6:30 a.m., Police Chief Bob Smythe said.

Many of the residents were from outside of Darby, Smythe said, causing Darby officials to call in extra police from neighboring communities. He said the multitudes of people came out partially due to a rumor that people could come here to pick up vouchers for free money.

I was trying to post this earlier but ive been having problems with the site tonight.

What's even worse, is that some of the people standing in line openly admitted they lost nothing in the flooding, "But if they're giving out free money, I want mine too!" That's the mentality we have fostered in this nation. Take a look, a long, hard, disgusted look, at the culture of dependency and entitlement that's been created in America, in the name of "social justice". This, people, is the end result of LBJ's so-called "Great Society", and liberal programs since. These disgusting leeches are the product of your efforts, democrats; hope you're proud of them!

If its OK for Corporate "people" to be only interested in profit then why is it not OK for other people to just be interested in personal profit?

You guys never commented on USCs point.

Yep. True dat.

Same thing happened down her in Florida when we had those 4 Hurricanes in one yr.

FEMA was throwing money out to folks down in Miiami. Only problem was that Miami got very little if any damage at all. People took the money of course.

Is it any wonder this country is broke??

Well look at it this way: It all went back into the economy. I read where Katrina victims were buying designer clothes with their money, and buying designer clothes just puts that much more money in the hands of the Vanderbilts and people like them! :clap2:

Some on here would completely defend it if you look at it that way.

Profit comes from risking your capital, creating job, making a product or service and selling it for more than it cost. It is not standing in line for something you are not entitled to. That is call lying and stealing. Even you ought to be able to under stand that. LBJ was the one who engineered the theft of the social security trust fund. He should have been put in jail.

Truthie, dear, you must understand the difference between "profit" and "fraud". Let me help you, with the simple version. "Profit", individual or corporate, occurs when one markets and sells one's product or labor, and receives money for the same. "Fraud", individual or corporate, occurs when one receives money to which one is not entitled, under false pretenses. "Profit", individual or corporate, is legal; "Fraud", individual or corporate, is a crime and punishable by criminal sanctions, including prison time.. Receiving government aid for which you do not legitimately qualify, is FRAUD! Hope that clears it up for you.

I bet every single one of them were obama-loving leftists too.

yup.

This is such a non-story that it's hilarious to see it posted. State emergency management agencies, letalone FEMA itself, are not out there making it rain just because someone sticks their hand out.
