Pentagon Child Porn Scandal: Security Agencies Were Left At Risk, Investigators Say

Was just heading out when happened upon this story again today. Did not see it posted so sorry if already done so

WASHINGTON — A major federal investigation has found that dozens of military officials and defense contractors, including some with top-level security clearances, allegedly bought and downloaded child pornography on private or government computers.

The Pentagon on Friday released investigative reports spanning almost a decade that implicated individuals working with agencies handling some of the nation's most closely guarded secrets, including the National Security Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office, which operates U.S. spy satellites.

Defense workers who purchased child porn put the Department of Defense, "the military and national security at risk by compromising computer systems, military installations and security clearances," a 2007 investigative report said.

Personally I feel those involved should be downsized to civilian status and imprisoned. JMHO of course.

BREAKING NEWS: U.S. Air Marshals arrested in droves By Andrew B. Einhorn Nov 13 2008, 09:46 AM
An investigation into the US Air Marshal program released today reveals that since 9/11, more than three dozen marshals have been charged with crimes, and hundreds more have been accused of misconduct, reported the non-profit investigative journalism group, Propublica.
Cases of misconduct range from aiding a human-trafficking ring, to drug smuggling, to pedophilia and child abuse, to attempted murder. The report, written by Michael Grabell and published today in USA Today, reports a number of these shocking crimes as well as problems with the background check process and hiring standards.
One of the more amazing stories reported was of an air marshall named Brian "Cooter" Phelps who wanted to get rid of his ex-wife. To dispose of her, he called a fellow air marshal and tried to hire a hit man nicknamed "the Crucifixer."
Another story involved Michael McGowan, an air marshall who used his position to lure a young boy to his hotel room, took pictures of him naked and sexually abused him.

AH! Looks like business as usual huh?

I guess they are not busy enough. There is the saying an idle mind is the devil's playground.

So sad that this is going on in the this world.

Makes me wonder how the people involved got into their positions and how they passed any psych evals.

Oh well, something to wonder about while I enjoy my evening walk...

And thanks for posting those links eots, guess something about this already posted then...

Homeland Security eh?

The Texas Mafia probably grabbed up all their friends (that they didn't want in the public spotlight because they wouldn't stand the scrutiny), and offered them jobs in security positions so that they would be in the shadows.

Only way to explain all the criminals in Homeland Security.

okay i have been on the net since al gore invented it....

i have found myself in all kinds of rooms with all kinds of perverts....(hey i didnt master the drop box for a while and thought the only rooms were "pillow talk") lol...anyways i digress....

but i have never found myself looking at child porn nor tripping across it. seems to me people would really have to work at finding it...i could be wrong. and yet millions seem to do it daily

We hear so much about this these days, I often wonder if some genetic code has been activated or did perverts like this always exist in high numbers but they were never able to anonomously express and share their perversions.

Perverts have always existed Maggie, it's just that when a person THINKS that nobody is looking do they try to get away with stuff not allowed in public.

The internet gives a great deal of anonymity and people can hide behind it, which results in people thinking "they don't know me, screw it, I can get away with it", which is why most police investigations involve taking someone's computer.

It's not so much that we have more perverts genetically, it's more like opportunistic perversions, because they think nobody can catch them.

So everyone forgot about this?

Halted after 8 months.

Am I the only government employee not looking at porn?

How do we know you're not?

Only my word bro. Course you could search my computers at home and work and see that as well. But that would require you to come hang out with me for a few hours. Quite a commute for you.

I'd like to know why anyone can honestly argue that we can't cut anything from the budget when we have people in the pentagon and other government agencies looking and buying porn and even worse, child porn, at work. Another question, are they purchasing it with tax payer money? Because that is seriously going to piss me off if they are and I try to stay calm as a general policy.

So why do we need these employees if they have to purchase and watch porn at work again? How much money could we save without them?
