They are performing a financial analysis based upon biased assumptions from politicians and bureaucrats in order to regurgitate a predetermined result.

The CBO (and many on this board) operate under the faulty assumption that is there is a "multiplier effect" of dollars spent. So one dollar spent by the government produces 1.5-$3 of activity in society.
It doesn't. The actual multiplier is less than one. Gov't has to get that money from somewhere. So it is depressing economic activity in one place while juicing it in another. And then there is the toll for the troll, since the programs cost money to administer.
and btw, John McCain labored under this mis-impression as well. So it isn't just Democrats.
So every dollar spent by the gov't actually diminishes economic activity. Obviously you can't do away with all gov't, but decreasing its scope would result in far more economic activity than handing out food stamps.

Problem is you forget to mention that unemployment and food-stamps are the federal government's main tool for "stabilizing" the economy during a recession. A recession the CBO claims ended the Summer of 09'. Plus this is a federal government tool...not an indicator of a good private sector environment.

Jobs are being lost yet Obama still claims we're heading in the right direction. Does that mean we're headed toward more unemployment and a worsening economy?

Yes...food-stamps are important in a poor economy but all they do is perpetuate the problem rather then solve it. So the Dems contend that this is the only acceptable option when it's not. That indicates a mindset that businesses fear which is the primary cause of the poor job outlook.
