Pelosi: I Was Told Interrogation Methods Were Lawful

Again there currently exists no treaty anywhere that limits what you can do to spies and saboteurs which is precisely waht Al Queada operatives are. That they are not openly in the employee of any government doesn't change that fact.

The transparent silliness of those who wish to believe - largely for political puposes -that the War with Saddam Hussein ended with the expulsion of his army from Kuwait in the early '90 is demonstrated by the fact that no peace treaty was ever signed to end those hostilities and that the shooting had already resumed in that War albeit in a rather desultury fashion before GWB ever took office.

As we have been technically at war with North Korea for the last 59 years So to have we been technically at war with Saddam Hussein since the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam's armies

Interesting take. Thank you.

No one one earth is better prepared to prove she was unable to comprehend simple statements than is Nancy Pelosi.

this treaty does....

We have been out of compliance since we approved it, because until 2009 US law permits water boarding of persons not covered by the Geneva Convention. Have we not been in violation of this part for more than three decades?

"Each State Party shall ensure that all acts of torture are offences under its criminal law."

From a legal perspective, we are not out of compliance. Again, we should change this, but we are legal.

i doubt it...

you cannot simply be "noncompliance" for a treaty/charter

doesn't work that way...read the constitution and then read the UN charter, until the US removes itself from that charter, it is bound by that charter.

I've read in a few posts in this topic a sentence similar to this one: Pelosi was present at more than 40 meetings regarding the "enhanced interrogation technics". That is fact.

Now don't get me wrong, I think she is a douchebag(apparently with a nice udder) and should be turfed, but that is NOT A FACT. Although there were some 40 briefings given, she was only present for 1. From what I understand anyway.

She is doing enough damage by herself for her lying, we don't need to exaggerate anything, she's doing just fine on her own.

Maybe Pelosi doesn't consider her statements about waterboarding as lies, but many people do. She had to know she would get nailed for it.

It's clear she is lying.

http://www.humanevents.com/downloads-pdfs/EIT Briefings.pdf

she was briefed on what was used and value of the methods. Right at the top of the memo.

from the article

Pelosi is just one of 65 lawmakers who received 40 briefings dealing with the subject. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., for instance, was repeatedly briefed, as was Rep. Jane Harman, D-Valif., who took over Pelosi's spot on the House Intelligence Committee.

In addition, from the beginning of the program in 2002 until it became public in the fall of 2006, the House held 13 votes to authorize intelligence funding at which time no one objected or demanded changes to any intelligence program

yes, by golly I would surmise they had plenty of time to object if they did in fact object which appears NOT to be the case. :eusa_whistle:

well there is the problem.....2 California congress people....2 pieces of garbage....oh wait i forgot, they both know whats best for everyone, and anything they do,they are doing it for our own good.....so they are forgiven....

A great way to shut down investigation into who knew what about torture policy when is for politicians to accuse each other of lying. Typical political tactics.

Let's have full disclosure.

I hear yah - the woman dominates her Congressional District though, so acts with impunity. Short of an aggressive investigation into her acts, or a far more aggresive media to call her on these lies, she will continue on as the idiotic minded House Speaker and Democrat Party leader.

Obama has got to be sick of her...

naaaa she has giant tits

oh please dont tell me you wanna see them.....:eusa_eh:

tsk tsk tsk... now let's have that investigiation shall we?

That's right. We'll throw her under the bus and you give up Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Bush. Rove too if you feel generous.

And don't forget these Democrats that were also briefed, Butthead...
Make sure these hypocrites are standing right along side Rove...

I smell Cheney and Rowe behind this one.
oh BULLSHIT
the FACTS Show she was lying

She was legally required not to inform the public, because the information was a matter of national security.

She had many avenues to oppose the procedures, She could have "leaked" it, she could have voted against it, she could have voiced opposition to it, she could have rallied others to vote against it. Same for all the other Democrats that KNEW. They SUPPORTED the programs. They voted for them 13 TIMES. They voted to fund them every year.

Further she STATED she never knew. She outright LIED and you are gonna give her a pass? Figures. By the way got any proof Bush ever lied?

I can't give Pelosi a pass, but I can't give one to W either. Pelosi did not have to reveal that the USA was conducted swimming lessons. All she needed to do was initiate legislation to outlaw what she believed was wrong. She did not. 'Nuff said.

She did.
Bush Vetoed it.
House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said Democrats would try to overturn Bush's veto and said U.S. moral authority was at stake.

"We will begin to reassert that moral authority by attempting to override the president's veto next week," Pelosi said.
