I'm figuring that if Newt did it while in the midst of his contract on america, that the whole "fairness" thing is yet another example of 1984 type doublespeak.

This is the type of thing that will come back to bite the Dems in the ass. I'm pretty moderate and I'm in a "wait and see" mode before deciding how supportive I will be of this administration.

That being said, the Dems think they have some kind of mandate. The fact is that so many people were just tired of Bush and the Republicans that a small portion of the electorate moved toward the Dems. It was by no means a mandate, and it can just as easily swing back the other way and likely will if the Dems show us that they are just going to continue playing partisan politics. Basically what she is saying is if it came from Newt A republican, It must be no good.

Ignoring the fact that he did not have to make rules at all. He was in charge of the majority and still made rules that help ensure the Minority has a say and a place.
