The Last Huey Out Of Saigon...
That or can you imagine people building makeshift rafts to get TO Cuba?

Just so sad to see so many willing to just give all of their Freedoms & Liberties away.

Personally, a bill that uses the word "SHALL" over 3400 times one needs to be a little skeptical of and if your not, then your faith will lead you down a path in which you may not like whats at the end of it.

But then we have many assembled that think Government takeover is a great Idea of 1/6th of the US Economy that they are entitled to do in the first place.

And make Commerce within the Heatlhcare relm manditory or Face JAIL TIME...?

It will be challanged.

It should never have been in in the first place. That our representatives could think that it was OK to jail Americans for failing to buy something should be a signal that theya re way out of touch with American values, not to mention the constitution. Everyone who voted for this needs to be fired in 2010.

Good one!!

Actually, UHC does not have a prayer of becoming Law.
1. The Senate will kill it
2. If the dems pull the nuclear option the USSC will kill it
3. If by some other ploy it becomes law, the people can elect the GOP to kill it

Any way you look at UHC it's toast.

As the party leader behind passing an unconstitutional law, hasn't Pelosi violated a law? It seems she could be removed from Congress or held for treason.

Thats what the USSC is for liberty to decide if this bill is constitutional or not, while I am sure congree will argue that they have the power to do just anything they please under the commerce clause, it's a bit of a stretch to take that into the realm of taxing citizens for simply being Americans. There is a reason why they call it an "Income Tax" and why it has its effects on commerce. Let's suppose for a moment that these mandates are constitutional under the commerce clause, then what is to stop congress from mandating everyone purchase a GM car, or perhaps a GE Oven, Why would congress even bother with a "cash for clunkers" just make a law that madates that all Americans with a drivers license must drive a GM or face a penalty. See what I mean, that is why the commerce clause only regulats the business of commerce and not the choices people make and does NOT give congress the power to make such mandates. It refers such matters to the states themselves and allows for the citizens of those states to make the choice through voting if they prefer it or not!!

Perhaps one of the legal people on this forum can answer this.

Doesn't someone have to actually be harmed (i.e., fined or imprisoned) before a Constitutional challenge can be brought to the court?

Lock and load. You bet. Liberal Loon Pelosi and her possee will lock you up or fine you into bankrupcy if you don't buy health insurance. Hmm. Whatever happened to the home of the brave and land of the free??? Mayby Pelosi and her crew should try reading the Constitution.

Yes. A person must suffer some kind of injury to have standing to sue.

I honestly don't think there will be too much trouble locating anyone who will make the claim of being harmed by this bill, as these sorts of things have a way of finding themselves in the court one way or the other. Here is a pending example, Arizona should the bill that has passed both the House and the Senate here become law , which provides that no Govt. entity can deny an Arizona citizen the right to choose their own healthcare or mandate that they have it. That sort of legislation which is being considered in 6 other states as well will be just one example of how legislation like the healthcare bill will find itself in the court. Why? because you will have the all sides claiming harm on several levels. So again getting into the courts won't be much of an issue.

Someone simply needs to present a case that his or her personal rights as an American have been violated.

Putting partisan politics aside, this Bill should be voted down by all who still care about our Constitution and Freedom. It really isn't about that old Republican vs. Democrat thing. This goes far beyond those insignificant squabbles. It's very simple in the end. If you still care about our Constitution and personal Freedom, you will simply vote Nay on this terrible assault on both.

Party before Country? No Democrat in good conscience could vote in favor of this oppressive Socialist Nightmare. Is it really all about Party before Country for them? Maybe John McCain was right. Hmm?
